It sounds like the overfill vent for the fuel tank line. Or the fuel canister vent line. They both vent to the right side of the bike. If the tank was full of fuel and heat expansion of the fuel vapors vent out of the fuel tank.

I was able replace my heated grips with part 7290612 for $37.95 for the pair from http://www.wunderlichamerica.com/motorc ... 90612.html

Wunderlichamerica has them My old grips came off easy and the new ones slipped on with no problem and the heating still works.

I would reset the Throttle positing sensor. It is easy and takes one minute to do by turning on the ignition key (don't start) and fully open and close the throttle a couple of times, then turn off the ignition key.

Also make sure you connected the electrical connection on the fuel pump when you put the tank back on and the fuel hoses are connected and not pinched.

Try pulling the fuse on the motronic unit fuse number 5. it is a 10 amp leave out for five minutes then put in a new fuse. this should reset the unit. also check the fuel pump fuse number 6.
