The Ohlins rear shock for the R is 6mm shorter than the Rockster, bolts right on with no issues. I would say you'll lower the bike ~ 1" if you go this route. You probably won't have to change the centerstand but it will take a more effort get the bike raised up. Don't know how low you want to g...

Has anyone tried this? I am maxed out on the rear preload on my current shock, and I would like it to be a little stiffer. I was wondering if the Rockster shock would be an alternative to Ohlins? Nothing wrong with your tires, it's just a seam from the manufacturing process. The five sets I have used had have all had it.

Enjoy that new Tuono there Momo! I've had an '01-R for just about 5 years now. What a great machine! But, I still miss my Rockster. I was practically given a set of close to new (2K miles) Rockster shocks. They have different BMW part numbers from the R1150R Roadster, but in Ohlins and Wilbers they carry the same number. I guess they will install. Anybody knows what the differences are between BMW Roadster and Rockster shocks? ...
