Re: Good Rides in Colorado and Vicinity?
hi. i just spent a week touring colorado (though it was on rented harleys out of denver). one of the best roads i have ever ridden was route 92 from hotchkiss, CO southeast to route 50. i highly recommend this, and i can pretty much guarantee you will like it. other highlights included: 1. route 134...

hi. i installed a set of caliper mounted motolights last year on my 2007 R1200R. i noticed that neither side was working yesterday. i took off the lens, and saw that there was a lot of what appeared to be corrosion inside, and the reflector that the bulb sits in was cracked in many spots on both the...

PARABELLUM SCOUT I also have a parabellum scout on my r1200r and absolutely love it. Though it is certainly pricey, i think it would hard to not be 100% satisfied with this particular product. Be advised, though, that they have a long lead time for production (at least they did when i got mine) so y...

Re: mirror.adjusting.question
ka5ysy, thanks so much for your input. your advice worked perfectly. i suppose in hindsight it is an obvious solution. it is just that, as far as i could tell, the factory didn't use loctite during the original buildup, so i was hesitant to use it myself. there was no residue or evidence of thread l...

hi.
my rear view mirror came loose.
i studied the design for a while, but can't understand how it is supposed to work.
i truly feel like an idiot for not being able to figure this out on my own.
can anyone explain how to properly tighten the mirror?
thanks.

friends, hi. i spent a bunch of time figuring out a top case solution. i even bought the bmw top case, but didn't like it, as it seemed small, and i didn't like the way it looked. i figured out how to attach a large pelican case directly to the stock bmw luggage rack. 1. purchase and install bmw lug...

Re: wiring.help
don and white lightning,
thank you both for your help.
indeed, it was as simple as switching the leads.
the zumo does draw vehicle power with the positive lead from the zumo cable on the center post of the cigarette plug.
thanks again.

hi.
i don't have experience with either of those two brands you mentioned.
however, i can highly recommend the parabellum windshields.
i had a touring shield on my R1150R and now have a scout on my R1200R and they were both excellent, in my opinion.

hi.
does anyone know if bmw (or anyone else) makes a gps mount that will fit onto the 4 bolts that hold the handlebars on?
if so, do you know the part number?
thanks.

dave, 1. i drilled through the rear of the headlight case. 2. i ran the relay/switch power lead to the positive wire of the parking bulb. 3. are you suggesting to run the third purple wire from the handlebar fog light switch to the brown ground wire of the same parking light bulb and that this will ...

Re: bmw.switch.wiring.color.codes
dderig,
hi.
thanks for your post.
i gave up on the light in the switch, and let that wire die (the purple wire).
how would i connect it to ground if i wanted to salvage it?
do you know where you tapped into a ground wire?

Re: bmw.switch.wiring.color.codes
friends, i figured this out by trial and error. if your switch comes with a black, a purple, and a grey/white wire, then i suggest you use the black wire and the grey/white wire. (i just cut the purple wire short and let it retract into the sleeve). this is worth the effort, since it looks great whe...

Re: license.plate
tak,
hi.
thanks for your reply.
i don't understand how your solution fixes the problem i encountered.
i found that there was not enough space on the inside of the license plate frame to fit a wrench to tighten the nut for the 'top' bolts.
how did you get around this?
