Booster plug and 24K service
Getting ready to take my bike in for 24K mile service and am wondering about my booster plug. If I don't mention it, will the technicians "detune" my bike based on results from fitting the computer to it? Does anybody know if the readings on the computer are affected by the plug? If I ment...

Re: Booster Plug
Great, thanks! I was wondering if they "detuned" the bike after putting it on the computer and reading the results with the plug in.Fjm wrote:I left the Booster Plug on at my last service. No issues with the BMW service manager.

Re: Booster Plug
Bike just got serviced.......so all good there! Yes my riding style has everything to do with my fuel economy. To be honest, I dont give rats about how much fuel I use, so long as I dont run out unexpectedly! Given the type of daily riding I undertake, the speed I go and the open position my throttl...

That bags look great but the brackets kill the looks of the bike when the bags are not on. Hopefully it is easy to remove the brackets when riding without the bags.

Re: Excited! New Suspension Tuesday.
Congrats! I'm saving my rubles for some Wilber's by the end of the year. Approaching 23K on the bike so would like to do it soon. Keep us updated with how the ride feels after the install.

What happened to the good old days when BMW riders had 50K or 100K on their odometers? LOL

Re: FAILED ABS Unit
I have the exact same issue. A meticulously maintained 2008 R12R with just over 8K miles and what the dealer says is a failed ABS pump. I contacted BMW of NA customer service and they said sorry but I am outta luck. I obviously told them how I felt and they said they would "document my dissati...

Re: FAILED ABS Unit
Does anyone know the numbers on ABS failures for BMW motorcycles? It seems to me that this has not been a widespread problem at least up to recently. I am not sure if the latest ABS system is less reliable than previous iterations. Anecdotal story, my first ABS bike was a 1989 K100RS-ABS and my cur...

Re: Booster Plug
D
So who was it who had one they tried on 4 bikes? Want to loan it to me to evaluate (if it's the same EricM that I know from NJ, I could always meet you at VanSant or someplace..)
He offered to sell it and I sent him a PM. I received no response so I ordered a new one this week. Loo...

Re: Busted headlight. Sad face.
I purchased a Cee Bailey shield after my headlight cracked. Too late! It works well but the 3M stickers are tacky (not sticky, ugly) in my opinion. I recall maybe 3M or some other company that had a thick film that you could stick over the headlight to protect it. It was not very noticeable.

Anybody else keep their booster plug when taking their in-warranty bike for service? Interesting discussion.

Re: Coming Back to the R12R
Welcome back. I'm approaching 24K which will entail the major service, a new tire and new suspension. Thus, I am debating whether to absorb those costs or purchase a new motorcycle. I am definitely leaning on keeping my 2010R which is a great bike.

Re: 800 mile Interstate 10 SUMMER day across Texas - NOT FUN
I rode through Texas in late April and rode between San Antonio and El Paso too. With the Cee Bailey 20" windshield and Don's block it was a breeze. It would have been a nightmare if I had done it with the sport shield. Definitely invest in a bigger windshield for long highway jaunts.

Re: Considering the R1200R. A few Questions
Greetings, I live and ride in South Florida and it can't get much hotter than here. The heat from the boxer engine is not an issue with this bike. I have had bikes with fairings (BMW K1100RS, K1200RS and Triumph Sprint ST) and all of them were much hotter than this bike. The fairings radiate heat to...
