Re: Oil Level sight glass

Checking oil level on a boxer is a pain, it must be hot, when you pull into your garage don't shut down the motor, leave it running until you get it on the side stand then lift it onto the center stand, then shut it down. go have a beer and return 15 minutes later and check. if you were to run the m...

Re: Are all 1100 valve covers the same

My left cover had deep scratches from a po low speed tip. Yesterday I was checking valve lash and while I had cover off I sanded with a cheap vibrating detail sander and painted with silver engine enamel. looks great. Color matches perfect.

Is it out of the question to ask if they would trade me my seat for a used low?

Re: Fuel pump doesn't cycle

Thanks for confirming, I found a pump replacement kit with hoses, clamps and strainer for $145. I'll check that auction. Also, there is a huge m/c boneyard here in Phoenix.

Re: Fuel pump doesn't cycle

I was talking about the tachometer, Most fuel injected bikes the tach needle does a sweep as the key is turned on. I can't remember if beemers do this. I have the pump unit out, the filter seems not to be cloged but when I put 12V to the pump I hear nothing, I guess it should whine spit fart or make...

another note is that the tach does not sweep, could the motronic be a problem here? When the bike ran it ran great and this no cycle thing happen once before, just sould like a loose wire or plug or sender/relay??

Re: Fuel pump doesn't cycle

Yes, everything works and engine turns over. That is what I was thinking about the fuel pump, do you have to remove the tank to check the conections or just lift it up some? Will a clogged filter cuase the pump to not whine and cycle?

Re: Fuel pump doesn't cycle

The battery is not the problem, I can move the side stand back and forth and hear it click so I,m assuming it is not the problem. I don't have an owners manual so I can determine which relay/fuse will affect the fuel pump. Maybe a wire poped of the fuel pump? fuel pump nfg?

Fuel pump doesn't cycle

I'm helping a neighbour chick fix up a 98 R11R with 17k. It runs pretty good but after it sits a few days the fuel pump and computer doesn't cycle and no start but everything else works. 1st time a trickle charge after a few hrs fixed it I think. Its now on its second charge, if this makes it start ...

I am an oldguy and have used rideon in 2 sets of goldwing tires that I install myself. I don't bother to static balance my tires when using rideon, after a 6000 mile tour from scottsdale Az to Freehold NJ the dunlop oem's had no cupping and looked as new as the day I left. 8 oz of liquid in your tir...

I forgot to mention I have slime in my KLR650, I just got back from a grocery run and had it up to 80mph, streight as an arrow. I'm wondering if there may be a heat buildup limiting it to 75mph, I'll look in to other brands also and find websites and inquire. Wally World sells the Victor line of tir...

I am a mythbusters junky :D Liquid balance is common in various applications, I don't know the physics of it other than as is spins the right amount of stuff goes to the right place. I once owned a new Fatboy HD in 92, I was determined to make that ridged mounted engine run as smooth as the rubber m...

I have been mounting and balancing my tires myself for the last 30 something years,. The bandit had headshake from new, again only when hands off, many jap bikes react like this including the 3 goldwings I've owned. I didn't balance them as an experiment as is going to be with the slime, liquid bala...

Slime used as balance agent

When I receive my new perelli rear and free front I'm thinking if useing slime only to balance. I read this somewhere, some have used just BB's. I once changed the factory installed tires on my Bandit which had head shake while letting go of bars, I didnot balance the new tires and it went streight ...

I ground of about 1/8th inch of each end of the bong that the bolt goes through, I couldn't even get a slightly longer bolt to get past that peice of metal that is in the way. The right side gave me the biggest problem, If I ever do this over I'd buy one of the small Givi fairing/windscreens. The BM...

I use a light duty metric measure tape and measure the circumferance of the tire, this I beleive is most accurate, when I check with GPS they are very close, I do beleive the bike computer is more accurate, especialy in the odo. I use the Sigma Sport usually available on flebay for $25, I've read on...
