Re: BAMM!!! Rockster T-Bone
Last night I got another set of eyes and did another effort at straightening, and yes it is bloody well straight. Still for myself I will stringline it in the morning just for good measure. Visited the dealer this arvo, he was quite impressed upon how straight I got it. Was not concerned at all on a...

Re: BAMM!!! Rockster T-Bone
Mikecam, your envisaging is spot on. I ride this road daily, a big weekend and the usual blazay of riding to work would point towards the lack of concentration. Something we all know we should avoid if one chooses a lifestyle of riding as we do. 22years riding on the road daily and I was certain I'd...

BAMM!!! Rockster T-Bone
Now that the title has got your attention. I crashed my bike. Yep, I rode straight through a red light and into an off duty copper with an impact of about 25kmh. No excuses, just a few sets of green with a red in the middle that I didn't see. Usually I would see the cars at the intersection anyway, ...

Re: Bike needs New Tires... Metzeler M3 Z6 Pirelli Strada....
Here's my experience. I commute daily, traffic lights etc. I also do fast day rides about 600km and some distance riding, rallies etc. I usually use M3 front, Z6 rear. Usually M3 5400km, Z6 9800km. I believe due to the traffic I get a square spot front/centre (half wear), probably 'cause of the tele...

A Cup of Methylated Spirits in the tank will solve the water issue, although I am one more to go with the previous electrical diagnosis'. Best of luck.

Re: Ohlins Fodder for the Shock Discussion
Well, I have gone out for a 600km dayride to try the Ohlins out solo through a lot of twisties. Bloody cold is one thing I've noticed out west of the ranges from Sydney. We took in the Royal National Park south of Sydney, then down to Macquarie pass just north of Wollongong. These are just two of th...

Re: Ohlins Fodder for the Shock Discussion
My new Ohlins are fitted! ZenoDampers, Taren Point, Sydney. Those gold springs look great and have definately transformed the ride. Fitting them to the 1150R was apparently no drama at all. The rear preload adjuster fits perfectly due to the recess on the mount, lucky. Ves, in regards to the height ...

Re: Rear Organic Brake Pads
Bmw pads $AU150.00,.....Pads from an accessories outlet $AU50.00. No question to me. I put Bendix Organics on the rear from advice it is softer on the disc. NIL complaints at present, and actually feels better. None of that ABS poo happening so early in the braking pressure. No squealing either. I a...

Re: Ohlins Fodder for the Shock Discussion
:D Paid and on their way. Looking forward to the fitment. Apparently I got the last set. There is one left either front or rear I can't remember. Don't fret as I am sure as demand grows production should re-begin. Will advise once I got them. For Sydneysiders I am seeing James at Zenodampers, Taren ...

Re: Removing tank stickers
Ok, i am an Aussie,. We have this tree over here, and we produce this oil from this tree. It clears a blocked nose instantly, amoung other uses I can't remember right now. But to remove the residue from stickers without damaging paint is the totally best in my opinion. I even use it on my matt black...

Re: Ohlins Fodder for the Shock Discussion
Thanks Ves, that was a lot of talk about the long and the short of it all. :? After your description and the fact I do have the STD arm fitted, I will go with what the company has designed and what your bike wears. Cheers. Keep us informed of any new findings and any improvement in tyre wear you may...

Re: Ohlins Fodder for the Shock Discussion
Ves, here is a serious question as I will be doing this suspension change over very soon in the land DownUnder. You state that both wheels now touch the ground on the centrestand. You also state that the front is now quite hard. The front Rockster shock is longer than the 1150R front shock. What do ...

Re: How many have had a bad ABS pump?
brem, it's not that we just lose ABS, we actually lose the servo. This is where the brakes power is, and no they are not normal type brakes when the servo is not working. It's a different design altogether. I am on my third unit. BMW has been very nice and replaced mine twice, "Free of Charge&q...

Re: UK, Australia, US, EU and Japan Bikes
Gaijin, I am in Oz and my handlebars are on the otherside, no just foolin' but, I know down here we don't have that black cannister located under the rear, right hand side of the bike that they have in the US. I think it is a bit of emissions gear? It is not required on our bikes downunder.

As an Aussie I am surprised this is even a question, I would never squeeze close in on another bike but I have never had a problem on sharing spaces in 20years of riding. It may be the social attitude of the particular country, down under it is illegal to lane filter (split) but accepted practice by...

Re: brake failure
i have an interesting gremlin. the bike rides great, starts on the first try after sitting for 3 months on a battery tender. I ride with no issues for a while and then on decelerations with with a closed throttle the brake failure light turns on and i loose servo brakes. the battery is not BMW, and...
