It is actually pretty easy to take the forks out of the top of the tree and slip the cables to the other side. I have 3" Rox risers and handguards and have ample slack in the cables. You may need to relieve some of the plastic on the guards.

I have used the foam grips too, but they are really fat. According to the buyer feedback for the grip that I am trying to use everybody who used the gel grips really liked the vibration reduction.
