Re: Replacing Handlebar Grips
Take a hard look before you try the "solution" you found. I ruined the throttle side of my '04 by trying this. My grip had the wire moulded into the rubber of the grip with sort of a loop at the outside end. The electrical is a flat wire that I could not see a way to work past to install a...

Re: AeroFlow screens
I can echo this experience. I have a touring fairing on my 1150R. When I ordered it the "Aerogards" were new for this model and were backordered. I mentioned, somehow, that I would be attending the Rally in Spokane that year. Paige told me to look him up at the event, which I did, and he i...

Re: What's the best insurance deal?
I have a policy with Markel for my '04 1150RA for $269 a year. Insurance is not required on a motorcycle in Washington state, but of course you have liability nonetheless. This policy is for 100/300 bodily injury, the same for a passenger and 50000 for property damage. I also have comp and collision...

Re: Re-routing the wiring harness for handgaurd installation
It is actually pretty easy to take the forks out of the top of the tree and slip the cables to the other side. I have 3" Rox risers and handguards and have ample slack in the cables. You may need to relieve some of the plastic on the guards.

Re: aftermarket grips
I have used the foam grips too, but they are really fat. According to the buyer feedback for the grip that I am trying to use everybody who used the gel grips really liked the vibration reduction.

aftermarket grips
I got some Ralley Grips gel grips intending to put them on my '04... but NO! It appears the stock heated grip is propritary to BMW and there is a ridge at the outboard end that would prevent another grip from being installed..plus, the inboard end is moulded to the housing that captures the throttle...

Re: BMW pride!
Take a look at Bob's BMW. I have gotten some great T-shirts from that site. Retro theme stuff and more modern as well. Not just the roundel on a pocket, either.

Re: Handle bar problem
Take a look at "Rox" risers. I think they are by far the most elegant of the choices.

Re: Battery Removal- How?
I have unfastened the tank and moved it off to the side of the bike to rest on a stool, WITHOUT disconnecting any lines or connections. It will pivot about 90 degrees to the side of my 2004.

Re: Aeroflow advice
I have a Touring screen on my R and it works very well. When I got the bike I tried a National screen (had to jury-rig the mounts) then a BMW touring screen (lots of buffeting and noise) and then got the Aeroflow. I have the "Aerogards" also that deflect airflow around the legs. I am 5'10&...
