I drew two holes in my oil filter tool, and screwed in loudspeaker spikes. Those can be made even from normal screws. That makes it simple to 'connect' the oil filter tool to the filter. Al least, one spike was enough to make it happen.

Re: throttle body
The Ticker Killer works for a limited time, depending on the defect which is really given. Let it tick, replace the throttle body or - having two right hands or a good mechanic - repair it. There are some 'how to do's' available at the internet.

Re: I now own a R100R--woot
Hi, rather than looking for an electronic version, I recommend you to buy a repair manual for your bike, like Haynes and others are providing. Anything you need will be included, with pictures, descriptions and a lot of specific advices. And all this for some bucks only.

Re: Rear Rack for 1997 R1100R
Take a look at Hepco&Becker's rear rack, which is, as of my opinion, a very useful alternative to the original racks and where you can mount easily a lot of things...
It is available for a lot of bikes, including your one (special fit).

Re: shocks
Just take a look at EBAY or other market places, and look as well for the german sites. You will find much cheaper shocks used or nearly new, and even new substitutes from White Power or other venders might be much cheaper as the ones you have looked at.

Re: which oil ?
I would recommend as well to stick with the 20W-50 Oil. Most machines do run with this specific oil. Mineral Quality is sufficient, but other specs such as 15W-50 will be suitable as well. Others do prefer 10W-50, but BMW specifies 20W-xxx for temperatures above -10.0 Celsius, where my bike will res...
