Re: Need Help Please
It does not have to be exact, I just need a rough idea. I have aftermarket shocks on miine anyways and I am average, about 180lbs. Yeah, it seems crazy but they make big wide ramps so you can ride up into the bed of the truck by yourself. I need a ramp so I can drive down to good riding with the kid...

Need Help Please
I need a favor from anyone please. I am trying to purchase a ramp to put my R1200R into the back of my truck and I need to know what the ground clearance is between the ground and the bottom of the engine. You would have to sit on the bike to let the suspension work and make it lower. I have the whe...

Re: wunderlich handguards
I did drop the cash and installed them on my bike. They are a pain to install because you have to remove the mirror and the threaded bolt that they provided for some reason did not thread in properly. I really don't understand that, I even went to purchase new bolts and it was the same thing. I gues...

Re: Second Bike
This is timing here.....I cherish 2008 R1200R and plan on keeping it thru thick and thin. It does not handle worth a damn off road in the rough stuff with street tires. Being here in Northern Nevada we have dirt roads run amuck and I wanted the best of both worlds, just different bikes. I picked up ...

Re: exhaust
Ditto on the Z-Technic S/S exhaust from Beemer Boneyard. It took some work to fit over the stock pipe coming out of the cat, its almost the same size. I had a very small leak where the stock pipe did not come up all the way to cover one of the expansion holes on the muffler. To solve this I used som...

Re: What seat are you using on your R1200R
I have been very happy with my Sargent seat for about 15k miles so far. I can easily do eight hours days. The more miles I sit in it, the better it gets. My pillion is happy as well. We both went to Canada on the bike averaging 8hr days for 1,500 miles total and the only complaint we had was that we...

Re: First 2000 miles on the R1200R review - A compromise to
Wow, I think I can speak for most R1200R owners on here—we love our bikes! It may not be designed for the race track or to go 120mph all day long but it satisfies most reasonable riders out there who always ride just above the speed limit or lower. It sounds like you would be better off with a crotc...

Re: Have you tried Sargent's "Premium Foam Conversion"?
I bought this Foam Conversion soon after I purchased my bike and I love it. The more miles I sit on it, the better it is. I can easily do eight hours in the saddle. I don't have too many issues with sliding forward unless I am going down a steep hill, with my wife on the back pushing on me. I had th...

Re: Exhaust
Okay, I installed the Z-technic slip-on that apparently is not made for the R1200R which I purchased from Beemerboneyard.com for about $250. Its actually made for the R1200RT or R1200RS. I had to do a little bit of modification to make it work. First, since the cat is almost the same size as the new...

Re: HYPERPRO SHOCKS
Neil, I replaced my cheap originals with the Hyperpros and I could immediately feel the difference. Before the bike was very harsh over bumps, it felt best when riding with my wife. The hyperpros have changed all that and with a quick adjustment from myself to riding two up, it’s a snap. You can dow...

Re: considering purchasing R1200R
I can't believe that you walked away after riding the beast. For most of us, the deal was closed that very same day! I love this bike, you can do everything with it! I did a two week ride up to the North West with my wife on the back and it was perfect. This bike is so versatile, you won’t think abo...

Re: OT - Hearing Protection - this is great
Mike, That is some good advice, I will see about the gun show, I know we have a couple of them each year up here. For shooting, I have the electronic ear head phones and they are awesome. I did some digging around and some of these ear doctors want $100 just for the injection mold. Then you have to ...

Re: OT - Hearing Protection - this is great
I bought these last spring for my two week long North West trip and they really did work. Although, I have a problem with my right ear, that one never really sat right and still allowed the rumbling noise to come in and after hours of riding, I still got the ring in my ears and fatigue. So I switche...

Re: Earplugs
Thanks for the input guys. I think I am going to try the form to fit in the ear. I don't use music or anything while riding, so I think these will do the trick. I will have to let you know.

Re: Earplugs
I now have the infamous ring in my ear and I don't wan't it to get worse. I work in the industrial environment of ships and this noise is above those. I have had the best success with some nice blue ear plugs at Walmart with a 33NR and they do the trick, however, over a few hours or even a short sto...

Re: R1200R Long Distance Impressions
I just got back from a 2,300 mile trip to the North West. We took off from San Francisco and ended up in Victoria, B.C. I kept the miles down to allow for frequent stops but I still managed to ride about 350miles each day. The bike performed flawlessly and my only complaint is the wind noise inside ...

Re: Contaminated front brake fluid
Just a thought, did your service department flush out the brake system at the 600mile service? They did this with mine and then a few months later, I got the brake line recall that is surfacing with the routing of the lines. They flushed it again at that time and that was back in 2008! Good luck and...

Re: Mileage Check-in - please list your current R1200R miles
I bought my 2008 R1200R two years ago and I now have approx. 9,000 awesome miles on it! Winters can be pretty harsh in the mountains or else there might be double that.

Re: Water not draining?
I know what you mean, I just use my air compressor and blow the water out of these areas including around the engine cooling vents and oil cooler. Other than that, it will eventually evaporate and I doubt if water will get in the tank becasue of the seal on the gas cap. I keep this area clean with a...
