Year-round riders sought

Hi all, Excuse the sales pitch, but please hear me out... It's not like we want your money or anything... Do you wonder, soon after the leaves change color, if you're suffering from some undiagnosed mental disease? You're the sole motorcycle rider out there, you brave rain and cold, sometimes even s...

Yeah, I'm still not so sure of the looks myself, but I don't have to look at it when I'm riding it.

The performance, on the other hand, improves daily.

Here they are folks

http://www.familymotorcycling.com/twins-(2).jpg Nancy and I are the proud parents of a new pair of R1200STs. Hers is the red and graphite, his is the (faster) blue and silver. We picked them up just in time to go to the RA Rally in Tennessee last weekend and already have more than 1200 miles on the...

Why not the R1200ST

I picked my new R1200ST up on Wednesday (my wife had gotten hers the previous Thursday) and we left Thursday morning for the RA rally in Tennesse. We put more than 1,000 miles on them in three days, about evenly split between two-lane and super-slab, and with more than 100 miles of back-road twistie...

Got one

Nancy got hers on Thursday (has already finished the break in) and I am supposed to get mine on Tuesday. Hers: Graphite and Red, low seat, intro package including clear lenses on signals, chrome exhaust, heated grips, heads color-matched to the bike, saddlebags, rack and tail case. http://www.family...

Bike's ordered

Well, we did it. We will be picking up to R1200STs, red and graphite for her, blue and silver for him.

Thanks for the input.

Thanks

Thanks Dean, and everyone else, for your responses. Yes, hog-heavy was in reference to the 720-something pound K12RS. It looks like we will be going ahead on one for my wife. I'm torn on the second because I really do love my Yellowjacket. But the engine improvements are really attractive. Bulldog

Looking for thoughts on the ST

My wife and I are currently looking at a pair of R12STs. She's currently on a 00 K12RS and I am on an 02 R1150R Yellowjacket. She's only 5'2" and we have made some minor modifications to the RS for her--super shaved down seat, low profile tires -- but the thing is still hog heavy. I love my R, ...

Sorry we missed you

Kjax,

Sorry we missed you. Business was slow and, as you said, it was too hot, so the family retired to the waterpark. If you're still interested in gear for your kids, check out our website at http://www.familymotorcycling.com and email me off-list, [email protected]

Just back from Dells rally

Hi all, Wife son and I had a pretty good time at our first Dells rally. There was a great deal of construction creating a fair amount of distance between the camping site, main rally area, and the hotel. The rally organizers worked very hard, however, at making it easier to get around, including mor...

We'll be there

My wife, 11-year-old son, and I will be there. This will be our first time at this rally. We'll be camping, even if no one else is. We are going to this one as vendors though, sans my Yellowjacket and her K1200RS :( Look for Family Freedom Motorcycling (we sell youth-sized street riding gear) and sa...

How do you honor Scott?

Like many who have posted here, I never met Scott, I may not have even replied to his posts. But I read them, and through them, felt like I knew him, at least in part. Like everyone who has posted here, I fell his loss. Several posts have asked how we honor someone in this kind of situation. Donatin...

DJ,

Thanks, we had a great time. Tigger traveled in my cans for safety ;-).

I wish my family had done stuff like this when I was a kid too, I think that's why we do it now. And, having a wife who rides, makes it easy to say, "Hey, let's take off for 17 days on the bikes!"

What I did on my summer vacation

My wife, son (and his stuffed Tigger), and I took our annual 2-week summer vacation on the bikes. We traveled through the upper Midwest and Canada, ending at the MOA national rally. It's a little long, scroll down for the pictures.

lower profile tires

My wife is 5'2". She started on a 650GS but now rides a K12RS. We did most of the above, but also bought lower profile tires to give a little more. She is still on her tip toes, and has to be careful and slow speeds and in tight parking lots, but wouldn't give the bike up for anything.
