Re: Motolights or Martin Fabrication lights

Marsdog, I got lucky and ended up with a very nice used set of motolights but have not installed them yet.

Re: R1200Cl What is your opinion?

I had an R1200C for a few years. It was my first bike and I did like it "but" the cruiser riding position wasn't for me. The web address below is a good place to go for advice about the R1200C and CL bikes.

Re: Motolights or Martin Fabrication lights

OK, new info to consider. Glad to hear some positive feedback on the Martin Fabrication Lights. The Photonblasters are totally new to me and seem like a significant increase in visibility, which is all I want anyway. I would really like to get the Motolights but currently my hobby is getting expensi...

Re: Motolights or Martin Fabrication lights

Thanks for the input. I have only heard good things about moto lights but was looking into these as a cheaper alternative. It looks like I'll be getting the motolights after all. I guess you really do get what you pay for. Paul PS. Thanks for including the pictures, the bike really stands out especi...

Motolights or Martin Fabrication lights

I am considering a pair of Motolights and was wondering if they are the sole supplier of the bulbs for there lights? I was also wondering if anyone has used the fender mount H3 lights from Martin fabrication. They do not look to be of the same high quality as the motolights but they are about one th...

Oil drain torque setting

OK so I foolishly overfilled the already overfilled oil. I am going drain some but is was also going to get a torque wrench to retighten and was wondering if there is a torque setting for the oil plug and other bolts on the bike.

Thanks

Re: I really BOUGHT THIS ONE!

Thanks, I am so excited about owning this bike. I can’t wait till the roads clear up. Goods points about break in miles. I forgot that they can use more oil until broken in. I did get a used R1200C several years ago, put about 3K miles on it, and now remember hearing the same advice. It did take som...

Re: I really think I'm gonna BOUGHT THIS ONE!

ITS MINE NOW!!! Can't wait to ride it. Have to get it registered insured and have the above services done. Hopefully the snow will be gone soon. The bike is in mint shape hopefully the interior is as good as the exterior. I rode it for a half hour or so and all worked flawlessly. The only small prob...

Re: I really think I'm gonna buy this one!

Again, thanks for all the info. I have already priced out the services through a local, respected BMW mechanic and it really won't be too bad. I definitely agree with new tires and battery also. Eventually (maybe) I will try to do some of the work myself but for now I just want to ride it when the s...

Re: I really think I'm gonna buy this one!

All good points, the bike is a 2004 with abs, heated grips, windscreen and bags for $7750. It's been kept on a center stand in a heated garage and started regularly. The fluids have not been changed in five or so years. I should probably price out the cost of services tomorrow. I don't know it may b...

I really BOUGHT THIS ONE!

First, thanks to all those helped on the last bike consideration. I ponied up the 20 bucks for membership in appreciation. This time I found one in near mint condition with only about 2500 mi on it. The price is a bit high for the year but the condition is supposed to be great and it’s hard to find ...

Re: I have a deposit on this bike. What do you think?

Well I didn't buy it, although now I want one even more. Took a long test ride and the bike preformed pretty well, stalled a few times getting off in first but that was probably my fault. The engine didn't sound as smooth as I remember my R1200C had sounded and they said they had tuned it. The valve...

Re: I have a deposit on this bike. What do you think?

Thanks for the caution Iowa. I will do several runs, breaking progressivly harder. I had an R1200C with abs four years ago but did not remember the sequence of the abs initiation lights. I will bring that with me.

Re: I have a deposit on this bike. What do you think?

Thanks, for the advice RClean. TL, I was thinking I would break hard from about 40 mph and then when I got down to about 15 mph try to lock up the back wheel, then I would try the same for the front wheel on the next run. Hopefully the ABS will kick in and it won't "lock up" I want to have...

Re: I have a deposit on this bike. What do you think?

WOW, this has been tremendously helpful! The place that I'm buying from took the bike in on trade. They are small parts and Suzuki dealer and not a BMW dealer so they I don’t think they would have any warrantee info. They said the power train has to be warranteed for 90 days due to the NYS lemon law...

Re: I have a deposit on this bike. What do you think?

TCM,

I thought $5600 was a good price. There aren't a lot of them around here and the Kelly blue book said $6900, which I know is only a very rough ball park figure.

Thanks

Re: I have a deposit on this bike. What do you think?

Thanks for the replies along with the list of options. I saw the abs brakes, which I do want but was not aware of the others. I'm going to head up there Monday and if it looks as good in person it will live on Long Island. They offer one of those extended Warranties but I'll have to get the specific...
