The u-bracket did fit the 1400 case. I don't think you could go any smaller than the 1400 though.

Nice work ContraMoto! I used a pelican 1400 case for mine. It's perfect for everyday use and weekend trips.

The Twisted Throttle pelican hardware kit is a good option http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/5680/670/ . It's easily on-off and lockable as well as rock solid when in place.
