You might get away not having to rebuild the caliper by removing it from it's mounts and carefully cleaning under the dust seal....no guarantees though.
Thanks for reply, Boxermania! How do I clean under the dust seals? Should I remove them completely? (And how to remove them?)

Thanks,

Your opinion needed... Do I have rear brake dragging?

I need opinion and advice from experienced mechanics . If you do not know what I'm talking about, please do not answer and flood this tread. Last weekend during the long day ride I noticed that my rear brake disk was hot. When I said "hot" I really meant it. I couldn't keep my finger on th...

The normal (and the max) engine temperature

What is the normal operational temperature for R1150R's engine? And what is the maximum temperature that you ever seen? I was busy last several months with work and had no many chances to ride my R. Recently took my bike for a couple day long rides and it seems that my engine runs hot. Both riding d...

MikeCam, Ves and CycleRob! Thank you for replies, guys! I love this forum!!! I went ahead and re-tourqued all of them, so I can sleep peacefully now. :) Didn't have chance to try the bike yet - finished at 2am this morning. Personally I do not expect any surprises, but I'll let you know if any. Rega...

How to torque the head bolt(s) after adjusting rocker arms?

Hello everyone, I need an expert advice. Yesterday, for the first time I decided to remove excess slack in the rocker arms and then adjust the valves (this operation I've done several times already). But now I'm in doubt... The manual, this forum (and some other materials that I found on-line) says ...

Re: Transmission oil level with "Red Line Heavy ShockProof"

Sorry for typo... Thanks, to philbytx and jm1515 who pointed to my mistake. So, to clarify... I bought a 1 quart of Red Line ShockProof. Not 1 gallon. It was a brain fart, of course. But still... the questions are the same, as it must take only 0.85 quart to get at "the lower edge of the fill c...

Re: Spark Plus

My bike is R1150R' 2004 (two spark plugs per cylinder). I have two books describing my bike (Clymer, M503-3 and Haynes, 3466) and they both recommend the next spark plugs: - Primary: NGK BKR7EKC - Secondary: NGK DCPR8EKC But when I checked NGK web (http://www.ngksparkplugs.com), I see that NGK recom...

This is just a short update from a happy Apostle... ;-) Today (almost 3 months later since I decided to go and fight this ticket), I finally got an update from the court. The news are that they studied and verified what I wrote in my statement contesting that infraction (instead going to court I cho...

It's a great product. I use it also. But be careful and DO NOT APPLY it on a robber parts. I believe it is active and destroy the robber... makes it inflexible and cracks later.

2wheelin -Thanks! It was the September '05 issue and I just read it. This is a great article BTW, for those about to do this with the TwinMax. Boxer, If you don'...

It will take a little longer the first time, but the majority of the work can be done with the engine turned off and the results are worth it! .... Craig, That was the best (a...

Apostle, First of all go for it and fight it! Give it a shot, you never know. ...on a 3 line hwy. You are not supposed to stop on the highway, unless for emergency or when stopped by the an officer. That would have been enough to give you a ticket! I believe I didn't explain everything correctly. T...

There's a lot to your story we don't know about... How was your attitude towards the cop. Your friend's attitude? You refer to cops as "pigs" in your posting. Did that attitude come across in your interaction with the LEO? Personally, I probably would have driven on and waited down the ro...

Hi Guys, It's not completely R related (but still, because I was riding my R1150R), but I decided to share my experience with you anyway... Yesterday evening I and my buddy were cruising together on a 3 line hwy. We were doing about 70 in 60 miles zone (the hwy was almost empty, so there were no dan...

Seeking advice from an experienced mechanic

Guys, I need your guess/advice/opinion. I took a short 2 hour ride yesterday night. The evening in Seattle was nice and not hot at all... At the time when I got back to garage the temperature was about 54F. During the ride everything was OK. There were no problems with engine or anything else. There...
