Re: Rick Mayer is a fraud
Jammess If you are referrring to me, you are mistaken. I have never posted on the R1200R forum. If not, I aplogize. Why don't you guys jump all over the guy who started this thread? It wasn't me and I never said Rick Mayers was a fraud. I just said I won't do any business with a company that doesn'...

Re: Rick Mayer is a fraud
I see you cover all forums (R1200R) with your somewhat mis-guided opinions, very good but still pathetic.
Your loss Rick Mayer's gain.

Re: Rick Mayer is a fraud
I find the information posted by a couple of members that have come to the defense of Rick Mayers quite interesting. I stand by by earlier post because I was hard pressed to find a lower seat and was pulling out all of the stops trying to find something that would work. I would have probably had to...

Re: What identifies abs?
And if you're not really careful when you apply your rear brake whilst in a tight parking lot turn at slow speed you will blessed well find out what your linked ABS brake bike will do and how much rear view mirrors cost as well. Getting rid of the ABS on my 04RT was probably the best thing I ever di...

Re: Autolights AP3923 get 0.025" gap
OK, if the NGK and the AP are both new, have same heat range, are both non-resistor, and are gaped the same then you will not be able to discern any performance difference in operation of your machine, period. Oh, forgot to mention both plugs installed with new crush washer and tightened properly. T...

Re: Autolights AP3923 get 0.025" gap
Well I could "not" start the bike with NGKs set to 0.032" using only choke, had to turn the throttle and have choke on max. With the autolites I can start the bike using only choke. =D>[/quote] If this be the case then all I can say is your bike is very different from mine. My machine...

Re: Autolights AP3923 get 0.025" gap
Here's a novel idea. Look in your owners manual and get whatever plug is recommended and set the gap accordingly then go for a ride and call it good. There isn't enough difference in these engines to matter and none of us are that sensitive that we can tell a difference in performance one way or ano...

Re: Understanding the operation of the Motronics 2.4 ECU
Have done some more reading on the operation of the o2 sensor and I don't think the ECU is going to like a constant voltage at the oxygen sensor input. If the ECU does not see a varying voltage then it may simply stay in an open loop condition and thus ignore the oxygen sensor simulated signal and o...

Okey dokey, curiosity got the better of me and I ordered the parts to construct my o2 simulator today priority mail.

Re: Understanding the operation of the Motronics 2.4 ECU
Boxermania, when I commented about the AP3923 plug I was referring to the many threads by people who seemed to credit this plug to curing surge symptoms with their motorcycles. Some folks like the plugs because they are so cheap compared to the NGK and they are. I believe the AP3923 is about one ran...

Re: Understanding the operation of the Motronics 2.4 ECU
Boxermania, when I first started having surge symptoms or problems which I now believe were caused by stick coil malfunctions I did replace the original O2 sensor with the Bosch replacement and the performance was unchanged which indicated that there was nothing wrong with the original sensor. I hav...

Re: Understanding the operation of the Motronics 2.4 ECU
Been thinking about my multiturn pot O2 sensor simulator and to really do it up right I will have to construct a simple to build DC to DC voltage regulator with a 12 VDC input and about a 1 or 2 VDC output to my multiturn pot. that way the voltage I send to the ECU will be spot on and ulta constant....

Re: Understanding the operation of the Motronics 2.4 ECU
Thanks Boxer, good write up on how the O2 sensor does its thing. I am thinking of using a multiturn pot with +12VDC on one end and ground on the other with the wiper connected to the sensor input of the Motronic. I would leave the O2 sensor installed and connected just to maintain continuity for the...

Re: Understanding the operation of the Motronics 2.4 ECU
A question: What does the output from the oxygen sensor look like? Is it a varying DC voltage or is it a pulse like maybe that produced by a 555 timer IC? Reason I ask is I would like to try and build a simulator that would fool the ECU into thinking it has a valid sensor input that is always consta...

Re: What kind of cage does an R rider drive?
My '07 Mustang GT has all the snort I could ask for And it has a nice growl when you hit the throttle..... I can't keep my foot out of it I like that sound so much. Exchange the stock mufflers with a pair of Roush resonators and then listen to her growl :) That new Camera had better watch out. Some...

Re: What kind of cage does an R rider drive?
2006 Mustang GT My '07 Mustang GT has all the snort I could ask for and great gas mileage (29 mpg) when I can get regular non ethanol fuel and don't exceed 65 mph. Looks great as well, white with flat black racing stripe. Also own an '08 Ford Escape V6 version. And yes, I do own stock in FoMoCo. :D...

Re: Airhead advice
Well, I gotta throw in my 2-bits. I have an '81 R100RT and other than the valve recession problem I might someday have with this model year I would take it to my '04RT because of simplicity, low center of gravity and just a great machine. She has only 7K original miles and looks for all the world li...

Agreed, no restriction is not necessarily a good thing. However,It is the stock muffler that provides restriction not the cat.

Re: Catalytic converter removal
Hi Boxermania, I tryed it without the code plug and immediately noticed an unburned fuel or strong gasoline smell in the exhaust. The bike also seemed to idle smoother and was also maybe a bit peppier. So I took a test ride and noted a tendency to backfire loudly when rolling off the throttle so I d...
