Re: My fuel cap is upside down

Many moons ago, the OEs changed the way the fuel cap opens, primarily for safety reasons. If you happen to crash and slide over the tank, there was a pretty good chance you might leave part of you on the tank if it happened to flip open during an 'exit' (for guys, I can only imagine it being a painf...

Re: Battery and source

Check with your local dealer - they can get them from Tucker Rocky Distributing. They are new to the market just this year and from what I have heard, they are quite the thing. I believe the model for the r1150r is an mg51913 but your dealer can verify.

Re: Battery and source

Need to take a look at the TruGel batteries. 100% Gel - most batteries are AGM and call themselves Gel. You can drill a hole in the side and nothing comes out of a TruGel - plus they carry a 2 year warranty. Make sure to take a look at them before you buy anything.

Shad Top Case

Does anyone have any recent experience mounting a Shad Top Case on an OE BMW rack for the R1150R (04 if it matters at all)? I am looking at the 50L size or something comparable in the Shad system. Seems the contour of the rack is not exactly flat and I've read posts where people have altered the mou...

Mid Grade

I run 89 (mid grade) and have no problems. The BMW dealer suggested it and it runs fine. Got a speeding ticket yesterday to support the fact it runs like a scared rabbit.

Have you considered a givi trunk? The E52N is 52 ltr. this is as big as both system cases (without the lowererd pipe). and the best part is that when I open it, all my stuff doesn't fall out:).. But really, you can do the trunk with mounting for about $300, give or take. and if you lane split at al...

First Gear, all the way

I always carry my First Gear in my system cases. If I am on a trip, I usually am wearing my Gore-Tex jacket (with rain pants in the cases), but for having a back up for summer on my communte to work, it's First Gear.

Re: 1200 miles on average!

There is an article on Motorcyle Online where a DOT stat is stated. It is that the average American motorcyclist rides 1200 miles per year. I've ridden this distance in two days more times than I can count. I'm sure some of you fellow Roadsterites have done this in one day. Why people buy motorcycl...

Re: I actually rode my R today!

After far too long, I took the bike out of hibernation. I just rode a few miles around town, no big woop. It was windy with strong storms a possibility so just fired it up, filled the tires, went for a short spin, removed the cheapo lights, washed it, and went for another short ride!!!! For the fir...

Fast?

For some reason, and I don't really know why, but people think the bike must scream and travel at the speed of sound. Perhaps it's the design - who knows? Anyway, I did not buy the bike to break sound barriers, but I bought it for the riding experience ... but the speed thing always seems to pop up ...

For what it's worth, I've been impressed with the On Guard locks. Keys are not the circular ones that a bic pen works on, tumblers on both sides of a u-lock so if they sawed one off, the other side will not disengauge. Take a look at them on your next dealer visit. Good stuff....... I had Kryptonite...

I did the well nuts thing myself with a type of plug at a local hardware that had the rubber and screw mechanism all in one - it did look goofy but it was a quick fix that I needed at the time. Not that it changes anything, but National Cycle does make the windshield and I tried to approach them dir...

I had a similar issue with a BMW OE screen - lost the entire nut/washer on the freeway and all I had was a hole where it went on the windshield. From what I understand, BMW does not sell the nut/washer replacements (at least they did not at the time) - they wanted you to purchase a hardware kit. My ...

OK - I had a Chev S-10, then an extended cab Chev S-10, and I now drive a full size Chev Silverado with a long bed. Does it seem that as I get older, my trucks are getting longer? That must mean something that I probably don't want to know........

For Arai in 06, the new Profile is a long oval fit, and the Quantum is a round oval fit, the RX7 Corsair is a 'relaxed' long oval fit, and the Astal is between the Profile and the Quantum (some say it fits like a Shoei, but I can not say for sure). If you want an Arai, go to an Arai dealer to be fit...

BMW Cincy closed their doors yesterday. I know somebody that was in there. Sad but true. Seems like BMW is closing shops every time you turn around.

My favorite brand of beer is 'Cold'. I was once a member of the 'beer of the month' club and while it was nice to taste all of the odd stuff (potato, wheat, extra bitter, stawberry, etc...), I found that I am sort of plain sort of guy and you can generally find my favorite brand (Cold) in every wate...
