Re: The December check in thread....

You've made it a bit clearer for me as to the why of what's been happening. The tech world love to hide behind jargon, I'm happy that I've managed to translate some of it, even if only a little! My father had one of the 350 Aermacchis, set up as a race bike, don't think I ever got to ride it tbh, w...

The December check in thread....

I'm still here!. :D Moving house VERY soon (waiting for solicitors). I can't wait because it means I'll have 24/7 access to a garage again and I can get back to tinkering with my bike and tools. Have been without a garage and easy access to the bike for nearly 2 years.... it's been hell. So - if you...

Re: 2002 R1150R speedo backlight

I changed mine many years ago and actually fashioned a replacement LED from the existing burnt bulb. It wasn't difficult as I remember. I think a single hex screw from the back of each tach/speedo and the instrument pulled out, giving easy access to the bulbs. I'm going from memory here so forgive ...

Re: Just wanted to say thanks!

Good to know that the forum is still serving as an easily searched source of info! :) It's the main reason I really hope the forum stays online because trying to find this kind of tip or trick is impossible on things like Facebook or Twitter.

Hope you keep coming back for more! :D

Yeah - ok - I doubt it really needs the steering damper, but you'll only know that by taking it off and riding the bike to see if it genuinely makes any difference.

Did the '06 R12R come with a steering damper?? I didn't know that.
My error. It's an '07, model introduction version, that I purchased in '06.
Is it Telelever or telescopic forks, (pogo sticks)?

Re: So I am the only one that comes here anymore..

Replaced the steering damper on my '06 as it was spewing, and no doubt no longer damping. Did the '06 R12R come with a steering damper?? I didn't know that. The other question is: does it actually need one? Or was it just BMW thinking "A steering damper looks fly, lets fit one!" Which beg...

I certainly can't see myself buying anything else for the foreseeable future. I've become a die-hard Telelever fanatic.

About the only bike I'd buy now is a Pereves Monoracer!

Yes, a project - will need to make 2, one for me and another for you. Intriguing! The case "augmentation" idea is winter project, and I can send you result for whatever hack might be appropriate to carry bow + quiver. Bought myself a City lid for left side, and want a metal external frame...

Re: Left side case gathering dust?

oooo - I'm sensing a project... keep up up to date.... I always wanted to convert a pannier into something that would hold my archery kit (a 50" bow and 30" arrows, so - a pannier modified with a 55" tube sticking out of it somehow). I may well still get around to this in the future, ...

What's on the To Do list?

Currently, I'm waiting for a few things in other parts of 'life' to happen before I can do some modifications to my Rockster, and the time: it is a'draggin'. I managed recently to swap the shocks for Nitrons, but I've only done about 150 miles on the bike since, not really enough to know if they're ...

Re: Just checking in... and Rockster rebuild

Hello again to all! Early last year I had sold my 104K 2004 R when I bought an '05 RT. A few months ago I bought it back when the new owner had become somewhat fearful of motorcycles when a friend of his son was injured on one. He had put less than 100 miles on it but had managed to do a tad bit of...

Re: ABS removed, now to reroute the lines...suggestions.

I always learn something new about R1150 brakes from you! Hence the "expert" moniker. This caliper/pad/rotor contact thing is interesting. Makes me wish I had photos of F800 brake disc wear pattern, since disc is same as R1150-spec but caliper (Brembo) differs. Doesn't look like the pad a...
