Shift Lever Modification - Part 3

I cut, shaped, and painted the ends, and it ended up looking like this:

The two pieces seemed secure, but I still worried about keeping the joints tight. I ended up putting a small smear of grinding compound on each end of the spacer.

You could "tack" the job with a small electric welder, now that you have all the angles correct...

I know that would be possible if all three pieces were steel, but the spacer is aluminum. Could it still be done?

Ooops! No, not to my (unsophisticated, though I have taken a welding course) knowledge. You would have to find a steel spacer... Sorry!
