rockster trip

Post by kirby »

Well I just got back from Texas for a wedding and it happened

After a bit over 300,000 miles I pulled into a motel and went in and registered got on the machine and it started (running perfect when I parked at the motel office but when a pulled away for the short trip to my room, it wouldn't accelerate much over idle but made it to the room.

Went for the trouble shoot and after 30 min diagnosed fuel pump..

I was very close to Albuquerque so I found a bmw dealer there the next morning, hitched a ride and purchased a pump assembly. (many$$$) Back to the motel, breakout the tools ,pull the tank and changed the pump. Filter was also 1/2 clogged.

Guess after 16 years and many, trips on miles of dirt road, I got good service out of those parts.

its a great machine.

Marry Christmas folks

mike.

Epic!

I'm still hoping to meet you and your bike, Mike. Won't happen this until autumn 2021 at earliest, but it's on my bucket list along with a quick check on my old Bakersfield neighborhood, breakfast at Crazy Otto's, and chilling with a beer at Pismo.

Capital Idea!

Just back from a reunion in Kansas, fuel is "pricy"(over $4 in some places out west). WX was everything from sunny to sleet..yippy.

The old rock is still meeting the challenge, 4500 miles.

I hate masks....

cheers.
