Parabellum Scout Fairing -- experience so far?
I know a couple of you have the Parabellum Scout Fairing. OK, how is it working for you? Still satisfied?
How difficult is changing the screens on it?

'07 R1200R [Black and faster than me]
So far -- I'm happy with mine. As I posted before, the hardware is first class and the installation is straight forward and took about an hour. I've ridden it in heavy highway traffic at highway speeds 70/80MPH and have taken it into triple digits with no vibration or effect on the handling.
Naturally it's hot riding behind (as any larger shield would be) but the main reason I installed it is to extend my riding season and for protection in the rain. I didn't buy the shorter shield because I have other bikes with out shields and one with an S fairing to use in the hot weather.
It also has nice built in indents to mount driving lights.

Thought I'd add this. Speedo showed 125 GPS said 115. Cross wind from right -- no worries.

The main reason I went for the big fairing was that (IMHO) the bike had a bulbous look to it with the factory bags. They visually overloaded the back of the bike. The Parabellum balenced the bike off. Without the bags the large fairing might be too much.

I'm sorry - I have tried for weeks not to - but I just have to say it!
That screen looks like someone put a barn door on your bike! We have a classic good looking bike and then you ruin it with that!

I reckon everyone is entitled to his opinion. It would be a shame to hurt some ones feeling though. I happen to like the way his bike looks. The fairing is not perfect for my tastes but it's getting there.
Be it retro or not I would like a fairing like the old 78 R100S.
That is my opinion. I think I would put up with some buffeting just for the "looks".

I won't disagree -- the parabellum has no aesthetic valve at all, and no one ever said it did. It just works. In fact the R1200R would (IMHO) not even be on my list of pretty bikes. It's just a well engineered and executed machine that deliverers everything its manufacture said it would.
As far as a classic I don't think this model will stand the test of time and establish it self as a classic. An R90S with the smoke paint or the first year RS with the blue/silver paint and spokes are two BMW classics that come to mind. Of the new bikes the K1200GT would IMHO be the one that could one day become a classic, mostly because of the new engine design and new assembly concepts used to construct it.
The street fighter or urban bike as BMW calls it was never intended to be pretty,but just a machine designed to perform a function. I would imagine the stylists were banned from the design studio when the work was being done on the R1200R. Well ---- maybe they were allowed to design the tank.

I definitely agree to each his/her own and one mans barn door is another man's quiet and comfortable ride so we probably shouldn't criticize on here except of course for those guys who hang air fresheners on their bike.
I also love the old fairings from the 78 and so far this is the closest I have seen to recreating that look though it's not spot on. I may get this next week.

Cost around $230 US. I ordered mine from Bobs BMW and had them in two days. Everything you need is in the kit, takes less than half an hour to put on..
I hope I never need them.

Have you seen the Wunderlich Trophy fairing? I think it looks really good but can't figure out where to buy one.

It's a Givi..and while it should fit no one knows for sure just yet. Was a small thread here:

I've got that exact fairing on my Ducati GT1000. I bought it in matte black and had it painted to match. It really works great on that bike. Yes the Wudo is much smaller and more like the classic r90s and r100s fairings. The Scout is sorta half way between the Wudo and a full fairing like the RT has.

I still like the Scout. For me I want to have a lot of wind protection and don't mind the larger fairing.

I had already emailed Wudo about that blue fairing on the 1100R linked above. They don't have any left, or at least have only the stock that would fit the cast bars of the 1100R. It's kind of difficult to gauge, we need a German speaker to ask them properly!
From what I can gather, there are three similar fairings available for the 1200R, plus smaller flyscreens like the Givi above.
1/ Parabellum Scout (as page 1)
2/ Wunderlich
3/ Wudo / Wudoe (the more modern angular one)
