Where in hell do you mount a GPS?

I have the touring shield and have a Street Pilot mounted on a RAM mount dead center of the handlebars. It's on a 6" extension so I can move it around to keep a clear view of my instruments. I can change the extension to a 9" and have mounted a still and movie camera. I have to lean it to the side of the shield because of distorsion thru the shield.

+1 on the RAM mount. I have the touring shield and a center mounted RAM mount for my GPS. I also have a Powerlet outlet next to the RAM mount for plugging in the GPS or Sat. radio.

Oops.... Good pickup, Arbee. Actually, the bike's analog clock is amazingly accurate. I have removed the "Motofiz" thermometer/clock. I didn't need another clock and the thermometer turned out to be very inaccurate in this location. ( There was another thread about thermometers reading high when mounted near the tach for some reason. I think they get heat rising up from the engine or oil coolers. )

Thats what i have.
Should work with Quest too, and not going to interfere with any windshield.

I have the BMW touring screen and also a Garmin Zumo 550. I used the RAM mount that came with the Zumo and it works great. I have it clamped to the left side of the handlebar clamp. My view of the odometer is obstructed, but I can see the speedo and the odometer. The arm is just the right length.

I had a Garmin Quest, then moved 'up' to the Streetpilot 2720. Neither were ever close to my windscreen (when I have it installed).

I used the most common way to mount them - RAM mounts.

I use a mount that clamps on to my handlebar so that it is easy to remove. (I rarely use my gps except for extended trips.)

Anyway, it's clean and simple and very adjustable as you can see in the 2nd photo where I've pulled it away from the handlebars.

Nice pics I've been thinking of ordering some ztechnik mounts from there.

Have you noticed any drawbacks with your mount? like does it need constant retorquing to keep the bar in place? or maybe it will fall down and hit the tank?

Also wondering Does that mount fit in between the clamps?

I've had no problems at all with it. You can adjust the tension/friction so that the device stays put in whatever angle you want. The tension is adjustable with hex keys that they supply. I've never had to readjust them in the 6 months I've been using it.

As far as placing it between the clamps, I wanted to but if you look between the clamps (at least on a R1150R) you'll see that there is less clearance inside than out.

EYE'S ON THE ROAD PEOPLE!!! Half the fun of touring on the bike is not knowing exactly where you are.I have logged 100s of thousands of miles without a gps. All over Canada and the states and always made it where I was going. Why would you want more distractions?

I built a simple bracket and secured it with cable clamps.....

I would mount it next to the oil temperature gauge, above the radar detector and to the left of the CB radio, do remember that to the right you'll have to move slightly the clock/ambient temperature readout and the sirrius radio. You can attach your cell phone to the GPS with double backing tape.

Now, regarding your weather channel I really don't know where there is room for it......

Ahhhh.....don't forget to bring an additional alternator belt, for the second alternator that you had to install to drive all the above.

I use a Ram mount for my Garmin Nuvi. I made a spacer and adapted the dash mount so I could bolt it to the Ram mount. The Ram version was too loose to trust on the bike. I stick an elastic band around the lot for security.
Bought an Aquabox from RAM as well but it was too small for the gps :-( Anyone want an aquabox?
