Bottom line for me - Rotella in the engine; Redline in the tranny; Amalie in the FD. I am tired of the controversy and comfortable with these choices.
(This was a maintenance choices thread once upon a time!)
Now, has anyone ever seen a discussion of what brand of DOT 4 brake fluid provides better performance and reduced hygroscopic characteristics?

The Older I Get, The Less I Know.
No. But I do have a related query. I don't remember the last time I bought DOT 4 fluid if it said "synthetic" on the label. Is that new and different from "regular" DOT 4 fluid? I never noticed the "synthetic" nature noted before on the label.has anyone ever seen a discussion of what brand of DOT 4 brake fluid
If they are different, are they compatible? As in mixing the 2 through ignorance.

This is a great resource :-)
May be it can go to the Archived Maintenance Forum.
I just got the used bike and wanted to do the maintenance. The bike had 4500 miles on it with last service done by BMW dealer when the bike had 600 miles. This was in July 2005. Here is what I am planning to do.
Change:
Oil + Filter
Transmission + Final Drive Oil
Inspect and Change if applicable:
Fuel Filter
Air Filter
Spark Plugs
Measure and Adjust:
Valve clearance
Throttle bodies (just ordered the TWINMAX :-)
Make the dealer do:
ABS Bleed Test + Brake fluid changes
Is there anything that I am missing?

Looks like you'll be messing about with the gas tank. While it's off, the fuel quick disconnects are an achilles heel, and should probably be replaced with aftermarket units. The Omegas get quite a lot of good press around here.tekxtc wrote:Inspect and Change if applicable:
