I'll be leaving the DC area sometime in the AM, but making a serious effort to avoid interstates and traffic. I have a good route planned across central Maryland (nice roads and scenary out there) and up central PA. I think if I were to take the direct route, it's only a four hour ride for me, so I'll stretch it into a six to 8 hour ride.

I am afraid it will be over 600 miles for me, so I will be forced to slab at least a good portion of the trip in order not to turn it into a 24-hour ride!
I hope to leave after work Wednesday and go part way in order to have some time Thursday to see some back roads coming in!

oh, that brewery is most definitely a stop on one of my road trips. Before Jim mentioned it, I did a search a month and a half ago looking for pennsylvania breweries. Williamsport popped up as having Bullfrog. So, I said to myself..."self, we're going to williamsport''.
Beer is always a part of my roadtrips.
And since OU812 is bringing the minivan, errr, LT...then we can REALLY stock up!

I travel to Williamsport every summer for the Billtown Blues Festival http://www.billtownblues.org/. We stay in W'port at the Genetti hotel, directly across the street from the Bullfrog. It's a great brewpub and my only complaint is that they close very early. Last year, we had to bang on the window to let us in at 10PM (we bike up and take the free shuttle out to the festival, which is actually about 15 miles away at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds, and were just getting back). A plug for the Billtown: there are always a number of very good bands - last year, Nick Moss and the FlipTops were the highlight, the year before it was Rod Piazza and the Mighty Fliers.
For those headed to the Bash from Phila and other points south, I highly recommend finding a way that puts you on Rte 125. It's one of PA's best bike roads with lots of curves and elevation changes and very little traffic. It also was repaved late this summer and so should be even better.

I'll second that. It's a nice run from Good Spring to Shamokin.
