I need your help to determine if I am just getting old and grumpie or whether I have reason to be pissed-off by my dealer. The events are as follows:
1. I buy a GS from the dealer - no problem
2. I take the GS for its 1000 kms service - no problem
3. I take the GS for its 10000 kms service - When I show up to pick up the bike after my scheduled appointment, the bike is not ready. Actually, work on it hasn't even begun. Go back next day to pick it up.
4.It bothers me but I move on
5. I buy a R1200R from the same dealer. Decent deal on a demo. Nice bike happy with the purchase. However, when I pick up the bike, my salesman tells me he must have a spare key done as it has been lost. OK, I will pick it up in a few days. I'm always looking for a reason to take a ride.
6. For the winter, I stored my GS at the dealership. I contact them for a pick-up. I am told it should be ready in a few days. A week goes by and no bike. I contact them again, no feedback. A few days later I finally get to talk to the service rep. He tells me the bike is scheduled for delivery in 10-12 days. After a bit of a discussion, I am told it will be ready by the end of the week.
7. I send an email to my salesman and tell him I am not impressed. My bike is ready one day earlier.
8. Meanwhile, I follow-up 2-3 times with my salesman for the R's spare key. Each time he says he will get back to me. Five weeks later, I am still waiting for the key.
9. Following the mess-up with the GS, I get an email survey form the customer relations person. I say I was not happy. she sends a reply email within minutes offering to talk to me to get more feedback. She can call me at my convenience. I tell her to call me at 9 AM Monday. Monday comes. no call.
Again my question, is it me? Am I just old and grumpie? Should I just take my money to someone else and forget about these guys.
BTW, anyone knows how much a spare key for a 2007 R costs?
Thanks for any feedback?
JG

JG-
I don't think you're being grumpy or unreasonable. You pay a premium price for a quality machine. You deserve good service. It doesn't sound like you're getting it.
It costs very little if anything at all for people to do what they say they will do. It's called accountability and integrity. It costs nothing to return a phone call.
I make every attempt to give people the benefit of the doubt and not be a pain in their ass but if taken advantage of enough I can and will go elsewhere.
Good Luck!

In my experience, behavior like this never gets better, unless some major event happens, like a management change. Just take your bike somewhere else and let us know who it is so we can have a heads up.

I think when business is good you find this type of attitude everywhere. These businesses should know that when times get a little tighter customers are going to remember all the things that turned them off about them. I just recently went to go buy an oil filter from my local dealer where the salesman was setting up my request, then said, "One minute, I just have to help this guy set up a test ride." That one minute turned to 10-15 minutes to the point the guy forgot about me and I saw him trying to sell a motorcycle to another customer. Of course I complained, and I got a free 94 cent crush ring with my oil filter. lol, how sad.
I have to say though, this guy was new and I think I got him in trouble, and all the other staff are spot on.
