Help identifying a bolt...

Post by frbank6 »

On the right hand side of the engine, at the bottom front, is a 10mm bolt. Does anyone know what it is? Mine has weeped a small amount of oil some time in the past. I don't see any mention of it in the Clymers manual.

If you're talking about the large 10mm allen head plug, I think it's a plug for the oil pressure relief piston. (anyone know for sure?) In any case there is a sealing ring/gasket behind it that may need replacing. Mine gets gunk around it also, but not enough to pull it out, I just clean it off now and then. You could try tightening it, but I would check the torque spec first.
