Muffler off; Mileage up

I see all you guys with these cool looking pipes and don't know where you get them. I've been to the usual parts weasels and can only find cheap 2 1/8" pipes with big screw mounts. I just have the turndown section I bought for the exaust lowering project.

Ok I am an newbe and just purchased a Ed 80. I bought the bike at sea level but live at over 6200 feet here at lake tahoe. Is there anything that I must do to compensate for the altitude. Please send your recomendations

Just a little follow up on the thread.

It is now nearly 6k miles and the mileage is still up, though slightly down a bit, to 46 mpg. I have been a bit lazy and probably need/should do a TBS but haven't in a while.

And I am very accustomed to the throaty sound now.

I recently removed my muffler and have been riding for about 500+ miles so far without it. I love the open sound and difference in the bike. I have been wondering lately if the exhaust heat affects my rear tire and wheel... I touched the tire earlier today after about 100 miles on some backroads and found it to be incredibly hot! I then touched the front tire and did not have the same heat transfer...Is it the final drive transferring all of that heat or is my exhaust playing a role in this? Should I worry about a chance that my tire could explode???

Okay, so this is a bit confusing to me (still a bit new to the 1150R). Those of you that have removed the muffler, have taken it off completely? What do you put in it's place?

I'm using a short chrome tip that I got from J.C. Whitney. It is a small diameter and hard to find a good selection. IIRC it is 1 7/8"

I bolted one of these on with a shim collar underneath to make up for the diameter difference...
I then reversed the heel guard and it sits flush above the bolt on area of the tip..this gives a nice clean appearance.

my opinion: Sounds AWESOME....looks incredible...
