there is a huge tread on the fit of the old style R1200GS hand guards for the R1200R,
but would the R1150GS hand guards fit on the R1200R?

Not very well. I had a set that I'd put on my R1150RS, and took off when I traded it in on the R1200R. They didn't fit the R1200R well at all, so I started looking at the R1200GS handguards instead.
