Just got a 95 R1100R Sunday. I won't tell you how cheap because it might ruin your day. Runs all tight, smooth, and clean. 75,000 miles and feels like it just left the showroom floor.
It did not come with an owners manual, so I have a couple of elementary questions I hope you can help me with:
1) What I assume is the fuel pump whines constantly, even with plenty of fuel in the tank. Should it?
2) My R1200CLC shines two ABS lights when you turn the key; you wait a couple seconds until one of the two goes out, then you are good to start; once you go a few feet, the other light goes out, and ABS is alive. This R1100R blinks two ABS lights; you can wait all day but neither goes out; and once you start and go a couple feet, the ABS engages with a clunk, and the lights go away. Wuzzup widdat?
3) There's an ABS rocker switch on the dash. If I push it, one of the two ABS lights goes out. What does it do?
4) Under that switch is a warning flasher rocker switch, and under that is a rocker which doesn't rock. Should it? Is it a dummy? Is there an option it would have fired? Can I strap on a farkle, slap in a rocker, and use it to fire the farkle?
5) How do I set the clock?
All for now. Maybe more later. Came with big touring bags; but I removed them because she looks better nekkid. May remove the windshield as well. Russel Day Long seat very very comfy; but feet all tucked up under me not. I am not much of a squatter. May have to figure some highway peg arrangement. Pulls like a locomotive. Engine likes to wind up a good deal faster than my R1200CLC. Will clean her up this weekend to admire.
Real men prefer boxers.

Re: Simple newbie questions
Hi there,
I take the liberty to reply ...
1) yes that's normal
2) that is also normal
3) That switch is an "acknowledgement switch". If your ABS is default the lights will not go out and in that case you push this switch to "acknowledge" that you are aware of a defect ...
4) ???
5) On the rear of your instruments a black pin sticks out of the chrome dashboard. Push that pin and your clock will start moving ...
Kind regards
Oliver

Re: Simple newbie questions
The farkle switch I think would be for the optional heated grips from you description
