R1200R Risers

Post by lucagoa »

Hello,

does any of you installed bar riser on the R? To install risers do you need to replace brake lines or not?
I think that with raisers the driving will be more confortable as right now, as per my shape, I tend to lean towards the bar.
Any suggestions? :-k

Thanks
Luca

yes, i have the moto-techniques bar risers. they are the 'budget' alternative but work well and the finish is just great. you can get others that may look more integrated but these are great. the riding position helps my back a lot.

i have the 1 1/4" back ones and although the lines get slightly taught at full lock, no lengthening is required of any cables.

I went with the other ones by MV. Much more $$$ but TUV approved and I liked the look. Greatly improved my position on the bike.

I also went with the MV, and No I didn't need to replace any lines. Its a snug fit but the lines all fit. and I too find it a much better fit.

+1 on the MotoTechniques 1 1/4 setback risers. Cheap, and no modifications needed.

+2 on Moto Techniques... easy install and plenty of line slack in the controls.

My experience as well. The MV design is better resolved than the Moto-Techniques (or thw Wuinderlich): most observers think they're original equipment.

Here's another vote for the moto techniques 1 1/4". They made a world of difference to me in my riding comfort and you can't beat them for the money. I think they look cool, too--functional chic.

I have these on my GS, I'm thinking about removing them, I'm not sure if they would work on a "R".

I ordered a set of the MT units today. Did anyone notice the odd shipping quote? About $10 for ground and almost $400 for overnight delivery.

I want to thank everybody who contributed to this thread. I ordered the $49 units and they were delivered today. Just got back from my first 30 mile test ride. This has been the best $49 I've spent on the bike so far.

I felt exactly the same when I got my risers. Second best purchase I made was a custom seat. Well actually the seat is the best purchase, but for the price, risers are the best deal.
