Wednesday got on my R to go home turned the key kill switch to on and my right leg was soaked with fuel. Turned the kill switch off and found that on of my fuel line QD's broken. Called my wife to come and take to the parts store picked up a 5/16 line mender, line clamps and a section of fuel line. Five minute later on the rode again.
After I replace both Fuel QD's I'm going to pick up one more line mender, two more clamps and one more section of fuel line to keep in my repair kit. Also need to get fuel line clamps.

If you've got a good hydraulic store (Goodyear Rubber) or marine chandlery (West Marine) around, you might try getting some QD's meant for boat fuel lines. I've got Rectus Type 21 QD's on mine. They're made of brass, easy to install, and easy to use with 5/16" hose barbs fitted.
Same thing here, though it happened when I was pulling off the tank. Replaced with the chrome plated QDs from beemerboneyard ($71 with the purchase of a 6 pack of Bosch filters for $39).
I am thinking the chrome plated QD may be better than just plain brass (of course I found about the much cheaper brass QDs after I bought and installed the chrome ones ) since the ethanol/water in gas may corrode the brass and those fuel injectors could get clogged.
Gentlemen - I own a 2002 R1150R and virtually the same thing happened to me in the last few weeks. After a ride I noticed a strong fuel smell and noticed my right boot was wet. The bike is due for it's 18K mile service that I was going to take to the dealership but literally can't get it there unless I ride it in. Thank you for the two suggestions I'll get the crimp type clamps also and make the repair to get her back on the road. Without this forum I wouldn't know what to use other than the OEM product and when items do fail I appreciate knowing what better options are available for repair. BW
