Re: two brothers exhaust?
I ran the TBR system on my '02 and liked it, fitted well and was durable and light. $250 is a little steep for a used one....offer $200. I'm assuming you are talking about the cat eliminator pipe and the can (mine was the oval can) and the system is in good shape.

Exactly like mine, with the oval can and it looks cherry. Jump on it, you wont be dissapointed. You'll save about 20 pounds and gain 3 to 4 hp everything else the same.

Re: two brothers exhaust?
I pulled up beside an RS last week with a much louder than stock exhuast and the rider told me it was a Two Brothers can. While I complimented him on the sound, I still like quiet for longer trips. There is plenty of wind noise already and I would rather be able to just hear...but that's just me...YMMV

Re: two brothers exhaust?
man i'm just debating with myself whether or not to get it. a nice throatier sound for the R would be great! but at the same time it kinda loses its luster after a couple of months lol...it's a smokin deal though, especially if the guy lets it go for 200. i'm a pretty newbie wrencher but i have a haynes manual, think i can tackle the install lol?

Re: two brothers exhaust?
My 2004 Rockster had a 2 Brothers exhaust when I bought it in Jan 2006. I've since ridden 22k miles of mostly commuting. In my opinion the 2 Brothers sounds harsh. It sounds okay above 3500 rpm especially when you are accelerating, but at lower rpm you can hear each pop in the exhaust. This is most noticeable during warm weather running at 40mph or less steady speed.
I disliked the sound so much that I bought a stock muffler and cat on eBay. However, I never got around to installing that.
The 2 Brothers has held up well. There is some minor pitting on the muffler and it doesn't shine up as well as it used to, but it seems well-built.

Re: two brothers exhaust?
Here are a couple of pics of the TBR system after several years of use with the exhaust Jet-Hot treated and the can painted black.

Re: two brothers exhaust?
You shouldn't need much of a book to remove the exhaust. Its about the simplest procedure I can think of on this bike (non-routine stuff). I did mine in a friend's driveway within an hour (was moving quickly on some sections because the pipe's were all the way cooled down when I started).
I love the sound of the Remus I have on mine. I have the y-pipe, carbon can, and went so far as to remove the baffle as well. Has a good low-end growl, and a not-too-annoying top end. Yeah, it backfires a bit (and I recently discovered I shoot blue flame out the tail on hard-decel when coming down one of the local mountain roads) and I like the occasional pop. At cruising speed, the exhaust is hardly noticable (I really only hear it at lower speed stuff) and when I got on it hard during one ride, the people around me (other sport-riders) were surprised at how loud the bike actually gets.
I've heard for sport bikes, to stay away from two-brothers because "they're cheap, not inexpensive, but cheap." Granted, most of these guys have Akra, Skorpion, Termignioni, or Muzzy exhausts.
The Remus wasn't cheap though, and Akra doesn't make a black pipe for the 1150R (nor are the cans they do make cheap).
