Well, now its happening....

We have a winter storm warning in effect for tonight. There can be up to 1/2 inch of snow. The state will shut down. Yikes, a veritable blizzard

I can't believe the weather you all are having down south. Last weekend snow in El Paso - unbelievable. This must have something to do with Global Warming. :? :?

Yup. Strangeness. I rode to work this AM.. a balmy 39F when I left the garage, up to 44F by the time I got to work. Supposed to be mid-50's by the time I leave at 3PM.

Never mind Celeste. How about this...ever thought of buying an off-roader?

- Good way of enjoying 2 wheels over the winter, its great fun, go at your own pace and great escapism (especially good if you live close to some attractive scenery). Surprising how warm you keep (ihell of a work out).

Here's my KTM 400 (and my mates TS125!) parked up for quick chocolate break and photo of Barmouth in Wales.
Ah, Lovely!

Not with a couple of feel of snow on the ground...around here most people that want the motorcycle feel in the winter have snowmobiles...
The problem is getting to the trails...Perhaps I will go up to my friends cottage this winter a play in his snowmobiles...

Had my first drum lesson last night and then spent 2 hours at home playing my kit...great way to relieve stress!

It is snowing right here right now in East Tennessee. So ... let me get this straight, global warming can give warmer OR colder weather?
Must be what we've got. It's either warmer or colder.

Global warming seems awfully cold down here today. Maybe Al Gore can explain this inconvenient truth to us. :-k

Maybe we are all experiencing "hot ice"

In Central Louisiana we ride year around. Having said that ... It snowed Friday night and left about an inch on the grass. The high for Saturday was 55 degrees and doable, I was out riding. The coldest for me is the 40's. Most of winter has highs in the 60's. The down side is I have to ride 200 miles to find a real hill and maybe 1000 miles to find a mountian. Seventy percent of Louisiana is less than 100 feet above sea level. We flat but not straight (roads.) Nice and easy does it.

I did a bit of riding today. Most of the snow was gone, and very little salt on the roads. It hit 37F during my ride. Happy and warm with Gerbing, heated grips and my home-made butt warmer.

Well, my ride yesterday was a bit 'brisk', even in tropical Vancouver. 1 - 2 degrees Celsius, no heated gear (yet) made for a refreshing experience. Couldn't quite talk myself into it this morning for the commute, despite frost-free roads.

I'm waiting for the local bike show in January, and the accompanying sales prices. The new Gerbings microwire stuff looks pretty good, I think I'll go that way.

@Mollygrubber - Yesterday (Sunday) I racked up 130kms running errands out to Maple Ridge. I would have been an ice cube if not for the Gerbings. I can't say enough good things about a heated jacket if you're going to ride in the cold.

This morning's commute was -3c and only the finger tips suffered. With the jacket an act of martyrdom becomes a wonderfully fresh way to start the day.

Well the real badness hit my chunk of Indiana today: just an inch or so of snow but they sanded the roads because of the ice. You can still ride when the weather allows but it gets a little dicey on downhill curves with sand all over the road.

So it has been raining for 24 hours straight and the streets are flooding. No problem ... I can pull out my dry suit and diving gear and go for a ride...

If it really starts raining really hard, maybe I need to dig this out...

The bike needs a wash anyway.

Only problem I see is how to get the wire for the jacket liner out of the DUI dry suit. :-k

I just noticed that I need to stick a fake DOT label on the back of the helmet

Great Rain Gear! I guess you don't have any trouble getting into first gear with those heavy duty riding boots on.

+1. I'll bet those boots help lower his center of gravity.

The only problem with this rain gear that I see is the length of the air hose. It would be OK for commuting, I guess.

Actually, I have a 13 cubic foot "bailout bottle" in case the hose breaks
