Brake Lever/Twist grip interference question

I just installed a set of Pazzo levers on Behula and rode her to the eye doctor this morning. The adjustment clicker on the brake lever was making contact with the throttle cable and the brake would not fully actuate without squeezing the lever a secon time. So just to make double sure of my diagnosis when I got home I rotated the lever closer to horizontal and went for a spin. Seems the problem was just a tweak of adjustment.

That's the reason for my thread, I tried to loosen the twist grip and multi-function housing and rotate them because I like the position that I installed the lever in in the first place. I loosened all obvious bolts but the grip and housing didn't budge. I just checked the service manual and it's not real clear if there are internal screws that need to be messed with, or even if it's possible to rotate the assembly's.

Any one have any tips before I tear it apart to find that it is where it is. Thanks

Well after four days of no responses to my querry I called Indy BMW and talked to the service mgr about my quandry. His response was that the twist grip and multifunction switch housing are in fact pinned to the handlebar. He said that it was for a couple of different reasons, most importantly to help keep the brake fluid reservior in the intended orientation. So, I'll just have to settle for a lever postion that is not quite ideal. best regards and carry on

Sorry BigEasy, I missed your post.

Hmm. What year is your bike? I have an '09 and I know I rotated mine when I installed barbacks. I can't remember where all the fasteners were right now (getting old, 43.5) but I DO remember doing it.

Hey Peter, The bike is an '07 FWIW. I rode 200 miles today and the lever felt good enough that I didn't notice it not being perfect so I'll prolly leave well enough alone

I just bought and installed a set on my '07 R12R. Clutch lever works great - Brake side doesn't come in far enough to fully engage. Got the same story about no chance of adjustment.
Man, I NEED that front brake - Levers go back and the search continues.

Eddie, I cured my issue by rotating the lever closer to horizontal, you might give that a try before you bin the levers. It leaves the lever in a less than perfect orientation but if I don't obsess over it I forget about it pretty quickly.
