New to the forum and the R1150R.

Post by wolfy317 »

Hi guys. I just picked up an 03 R1150R a couple of weeks ago, and was directed to this forum. So, I figured I'd introduce myself and the bike. It's an 03 with 40k miles. The original owner had the dealer paint it pearl white when he bought it, and I think that pearl looks great on the bike. It came with bmw bags, and a givi top case. It had the original stock black seat on it, but I just recently replaced it with the tan one. So far I really like the bike except for the peg positions. I have a peg lowering kit on the way though.

I've been on bikes for 19 years, riding on street for 16. My first and still a current street bike is a 1971 BMW R75/5 w/ R90s heads and carbs. The 1150R is my first and only other bike so far. Here are some pics of my kids:

I wish they were colormatched! They're just the black plastic ones, but I'm happy to have em!

Nothing some paint and a good painter can't solve :) Paint only the covers, that is good enough!

Personally, I covet your /5. Such a smooth, sweet bike. I bought one new in '71 and used it with a Hoover strapped on the back to do a janitor gig at night in various businesses in Marin county CA. Lived in Sausalito at the time in a houseboat. Welcome to the forum!

I must say, in my so far limited riding time of the new R, it actually sounds like( a little) my airhead, and even has some of the same quirks. It's very neat to be able to compare the 2. Also makes me feel right at home on it. Thanks for the warm welcomes guys.
