Seen this before?

Post by Sander Abernathy »

White R1200Rs are always the coolest but this one goes a step beyond.

I'm just drooling over this. The seat with the cowling couldn't be more perfect. Look how the cowling is integrated on the side to fill the gap between the taillight cover and the body color side panel. And the price is considerably less than the comfort seat. It can have rocks, nails and staples for padding at that price and I'd still ride it because it looks so good.

They have superbike bars known to fit the bike in a choice of colors.

The fairing is frame mounted and integrated into the gas tank like an oem part and it looks like the windscreen is actually tall enough to do something.

Finally an engine fairing that is rationally priced at 299 euros or 468 euros painted.

Is this the current day R1200S? If it's not I can't see what is missing except the rear fender that they indicate is in development and rear sets.

I wonder if I can get my paycheck direct deposited into their acccount?

Not sure I like it :? I like my more traditional looking bike more. This one reminds me to much of those Kawasaki street bikes. Might be only me though...

It looks nice, but pretty high priced. Here is the translation:

GRP shell casing (fiberglass reinforced plastic), hand laminated, holder set, tinted smoky Plexiglas, screws, double-headlight-set with
DE-H7-passing lamp, two light bulbs H7
(Price unpainted)
990 Euros = $1,285 US
Color of paint in series
Please specify color code when ordering.

It looks like you must remove your round headlight and plug the headlight connection into this dual lamp fairing.

I agree that $1285 is a lot of money but the Wunderlich S90 style fairing with no headlight is $800 painted and the sportscreen from BMW with the bracket is over $400. For what you get then, the fairing is expensive but in line with all the other overpriced farkles available. Have you seen what the HP2 Sport fairing and engine fairing go for from the dealer? Over $3k each.

I am probably least excited about the fairing of everything offered but I do like it. I might go with the Wunderlich S90 fairing instead of this one and the Gimbel seat cover and engine fairing shown at the link I sent out. Those are comparatively underpriced vs. the other alternatives for a seat or engine fairing. The nice thing about the engine fairing is that it appears to allow you to continue to use the center stand and it blends nicely with the housing of the oil cooler. The center stand is clearly on the bike so I assume it can function with the engine fairing in place.

I agree it makes it look like a sport bike but I think it looks more like the R1200S than a Kawasaki.

I like the blue and white. It's very BMW. The frame needs to be repainted blue as well I think. It would be a poor-man's HP2 sport for half the price differential.

If I went with the Gimbel package and the blue and white theme, I would probably stick a bunch of blue neon lights in the gaping hole of the fairing on either side of the headlights shining down onto the front wheel. That would give you some visibility at night. (I'm kidding of course.)

$1285 IS kinda high but I REALLY like the looks of that front fairing. Looks like it might take care of most if not all of the turbulence coming around the gas tank too.

I wonder how much thought was given to making the headlights on that cool looking fairing work well as headlights...you know at night?
i also like the dual headlight kit on that page of BMW goodies.

Yes I'm worried that because of the lack of a vent it will leave a vacuum behind the screen that will create a lot of buffeting. I imagine there is enough space around the headlights though to let some air through to relieve the pressure.
