Last ride for 2010
I may have just taken my last ride of the season. Took a nice 100 miler with sea foam in the tank, topped off and parked.
Also got out the snowblowers and added sea foam to the lawnmower. Hope every one has a great holiday season.

Sorry to hear that. Guess I'm spoiled living here in South Florida where it is prime riding season. I could not imagine storing the bike for months on end.

Re: Last ride for 2010
You have my sympathy. Here in Memphis, the longest I can expect to go without a ride during the winter months is two weeks. There are always a few days every month that push at least into the 50's. With full leathers I consider anything above 40 to be ride-able, at least for an hour. As for snow, very rarely more than twice a year and it's usually melted within a couple of days. Go south young man.
The older I grow the more I distrust the idea that age brings wisdom.

Re: Last ride for 2010
It was a pretty nice day here in SE Iowa (53 degrees). I did see a few people riding and I thought about it but I am seafoamed, battery tended, covered for the winter. If we have a couple nice days and time allows it I'm always ready to break it out. Once they spread sand and salt i'm done untill spring rains wash it off. It is very depressing but , It's time for more farkles
Speed cures all handling problems.

Re: Last ride for 2010
I keep riding until the driveway ices over. Never know for sure when that will be. But I usually can get out for a few hours from time to time - often enough to avoid the dreaded sea foam and tender routine.

Re: Last ride for 2010
That was my afternoon too. With rain and below freezing temps predicted through next week today was perfect for a short ride, a wash, a top off, and some Sta-bil for the R1200R and the lawnmower. Think Spring!

What's this 'sea foam' stuff?? & how/what does it help/do to the bike during winter.

Yep, three feet of snow sealed the deal. Detailed it, hooked up the tender, tucked it in the corner and covered it.

It's magic stuff distilled from the oil of 1000 snakes IMHO. (Anything with that many claims floating around about it triggers my snake-oil meter.)dav wrote:What's this 'sea foam' stuff?? & how/what does it help/do to the bike during winter.

If you want some fuel stabilizer - probably "Sta-Bil" is your best bet - that's actually what it's made for. You lucky guys in Oz don't get corn-squeezings in your gas right? That means you can get away with the basic stuff.
BTW - I envy your lack of snow contact.
