Repairing scuffs to panniers

Post by momentman »

looking for advice on removing scuffs from my hard panniers - 02 R1150 R
the scuffs are mostly from boots, but seem to resist cleanign with brushes etc, and I am wary of damagin the plastic with chemical solutions
any advice appreciated

You can do a search for this and get a few versions of advice. I ended up using some fine steel wool and sprayed wd-40 on and gently reduced the scuffed areas. It will also take of the surface bumpy texture and you'll be left with a smooth finish if you do too much. It worked for me and it took out the majority of the scuffs to my liking. Finish it off with some Mothers Back to Black vinyl product and you'll have pretty decent looking cases.

I like to use Scotchbrite to remove scuffs.
I don't get caught in the rain, I ride in it on purpose.

I was told by an old-timer, "That's what they make stickers for." It's worked well for me...
