Metzler M3 " E " tire?

Post by Widetrack »

I'm running M3's on the bike and need a new front. The local dealer has an " E " designated M3 on hand designed for K series bikes. Metzler doesn't recommend it for the R. Does anyone know what the " E " designation is ? Would it be a problem on the R ?

Another question, does anyone have any miles on a Z8 yet?

thanks

I'm gonna guess that it's a stiffer side wall for a heavier bike. In any case M3 is an older tire replaced by the M5, and it's really more a sport bike tire. If you're gonna go Metzeler I'd recommend the new Interact Z8 which is a sport touring tire and a better choice for the R1200R http://www.metzelermoto.com/web/product ... fault.page I'd also recommend against any "stiffer" rated versions since the R12R is reasonably light.

Another great choice would be the New MIchelin Pilot Road 3 http://www.michelinmotorcycle.com/index ... pilotroad3 and again no need for the stiffer "b" version since the R12R is a reasonably light bike.
