Seat Cowl

Post by Ephinshise »

Hey guys,

I have seen people use other seat cowls in place of a back eat on the 1150 but I dont know which bike to use one from. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Or if anyone knows of a good site that I havent seen yet. Thanks!

The R1150R and Rockster have the same seat arrangement. The 'Cargo Plate' is the only BMW pillion seat replacement item I know of. Some guys have used this as the basis for making a 'cowl' for neat storage.

If you fit the cargo plate, you can neatly stash a long bag across the two side cases. That's what I used to do for big trips. The bag would sit lower than when it was over the much higher pillion seat and be neatly locked in place in front of the top box. Used by itself, it was hopeless, as it sits lower than the back of the rider seat and you lose the slight back-rest provided by the higher pillion seat. You tend to slide off the back of the rider seat (all that power!).

I still have mine in a box in the shed. Must sell it someday now the bike is gone!
