I was intending to start some discussion on this soon. Might as will start now.

I recommend a return to West Virginia somewhere, maybe even to one of the previous sites. The best attended Bashes have always been in WV and its a good halfway point for the southern and northern contingents.

West Virginia is my favorite motorcycle state, but we need to stay somewhere that we can drink without being hassled. A venue in WV like the one in Central PA would be perfect. Weekend prior to Mothers Day?

Unlike this year, there is only one weekend between Mother's Day (5/13) and Memorial Day (5/28). The mountains of West Virginia can be tricky weather wise as there was snow at higher elevations, which Vann and I will attest to, on Friday, May 18th for BBIV. The weekend before Mother's Day could be too early unless we move farther south. The Central Park Hotel (BBV) was a unique location and provided everything, but cell service and internet. No locations are perfect, but some are better than others.

I'm thinking Virginia, Maryland, or a little farther south in WV(maybe Lewisburg?). Repeats are not a problem with me. I just would like to consider something new if possible.

I'll agree that WV has the best roads hands down. I did a long weekend down in Marlinton in October with jfslater98, marty2, and two others at the Motor Lodge which was a great location, but the restaurant left a lot to be desired. The bar was open only on Saturday night.

Let's give it some thought and pick a date. If you host it, they will come.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Mac, but I would prefer a supporting role! :)

Daryl - have we been hassled about drinking anywhere? If so, I have forgotten. We are usually a pretty mellow group of drinkers. After a little wine, I just get sleepy!

No riding season left for scout trips for locations. We might have to rely on our collective experiences and recommendations.

I personally think we need to keep the date of the weekend after Mother's Day, simply to avoid the inevitable endless debate on picking a new one. And yes Doc, I certainly remember the tricky riding that day. But it made for a good story, didn't it? But moving it a little south is not a bad suggestion. Lewisburg is a nice town, with lots of eating options.

Anyone else have some location suggestions?

I like the idea of WV too. And I prefer a small B&B like we stayed at in Marlinton, over a chain motel. A Motorcycle friendly place would be nice. I'm too far south to do much research on the road checking things out, but someone should be able to come up with a decent place in the Lewisburg area.

Let's see now..Hmmm?...Who lives in that area?....BRIAN! ....and Cooperstein is also pretty close there. You 2 can be in charge of this! :p

Let me check my archives for some possible location suggestions.
The only place we were hassled about noise and alcohol was in Fayetteville(BBVI).

One of our guys at work is from Lewisburg originally. I have him thinking on a possible location for us.

Maybe we can get a nice weekend this winter for a scouting trip!

There is some behind-the-scenes planning going for this Bash. Details will follow later.

For now, plan on May 17th-20th (the traditional weekend after Mother's Day) in Lewisburg, West Virginia.

Nice town, good roads, easy access to main roads and a little further south than previous WV Bash locations. And I know it is the first stop I make coming from the Marlington area that has reliable cell service!

More specifics will be coming later. But don't plan on the Greenbriar! A little out of my budget! ;)

Great to see you taking care of it Vann. Motels are best in my book. I will be there this year.

Sounds good to me; weekend of 17 may. Having some big changes in 2012 for work; knowing the dates now helps a lot for me to plan my schedule. Might be tired by the time that we arrive but we''ll be there. Two thumbs up for the great state of West Virginia.

Vann, thae place with the drinking issue was the one near the big bridge in WV, 3 years ago I think. We were on the picnic table; not a deal breaker by any stretch but u think Smart Ass Tommy was having more fun than the locals could appreciate.
