Drilling out the Muffler
Has anyone tried drilling out the baffles in the muffler so that the machine sounds kind of like a motorcycle instead of a sewing machine.

Put 15K on the Roadster last summer and it's one of five bikes, and still had time to 'tinker'MTBeemer wrote:For heavens sake, ride more, tinker less.

Re: Drilling out the Muffler
There was a guy on this forum a couple of years ago who was going to disect a stock muffler in an attempt to see what could be done with it. Whoever you were, if you're still around, how about an update.

I've had several BMW's. Twins and fours. I put a Remus on almost all of them. I drilled the baffle out each time without any problems. If you've ridden around for a while with it in it may take a firm tug to get it out.

PS To specifically answer your question, I have seen it once where a guy cut the end off his muffler and gutted it, then put it back together. It sounded like ass.
