Synthetic DOT 4 Clutch Oil is the best, does not turn brown
I have been using synthetic DOT 4 clutch oil now for about a year (Prestone), for the first and second bleeds the drained oil got progressively lighter. Just finished my third flush, this time the oil coming out of the bleeder was clear. So I think it took time for the oil in the slave cylinder to get exchanged with fresh oil through normal clutch use. The synthetic oil can take a higher temp. that is why it does not turn brown. Hoping this prevents a slave cylinder leak down the road.
