Synthetic Transmission Oil ?

Synthetic Transmission Oil ?
My gear shift was getting ever more 'characteristic'. I thought I'd try synthetic again. Been using some bulk mineral 80/90 GL5.
Now using a full synthetic 75/90 GL5. A noticeable improvement with less/no clunking or wrestling into neutral at junctions. I'm aware of potential oil seal problems and will keep an eye out for leaks.

Went to 100% synthetic for all lubes 2 years ago at about 30k miles.
The most noticible trait is the smoothness of shifting.
The entire bike smoothed out though and nothing is leaking.

I have been running full syn castrol or mobil in my tranny and rear end for years now, works great w/smooth shifting and no leaks.

I admit to looking for the cheapest known brand on Amazon. Found a 5 litre container of Comma, the kind of oil you find in a trade counter place.About £29 for 5 litres delivered IIRC.
No idea what the SX prefix means? I now realise that I bought semi-synthetic because of the seal worry. And it works fine.
The Comma Gear Oil has been specially formulated to the SX75W-90 specification. The gear oil should be suitable for 75W-90, 80W-90 or 85W-90, but please check your user manual for the specification you require.

Comma Oil is good stuff.....That's who makes Halford's branded oils.
They've been around for almost 50 years! No worries with Comma
as long as you use the correct grade.

Re: Synthetic Transmission Oil ?
Thanks to the recent spate of discussions I've learned to shift even more smoothly.
I now pre-load the gear shift going up and down the box and adopted the technique mentioned elsewhere of only pulling the clutch lever in half way while riding along.
Changing fast using the above method works great when on the move. Obviously moving away from a standstill needs full clutch disengagement and clonking into neutral at a standstill is still a noisy PITA.

I've been using Amsoil 75W-140 Severe Gear fluid for many years(8) now with very good results. Well worth the extra $$.

Love the Amsoil 20W-50 too. It is expensive, but it's good stuff. Especially in the heat.

I use the Castrol MTX synthetic SAE 75W-140 and that oil did improve the gearchange a lot.
