reluctant gear change

Post by phil1150man »

Hi, just come over from riding K's so my R1150 R is quite a novelty . Problem is changing up from 3 to 4 have to keep pressure on lever , clutchless changes are easier are these recommended ? or is there an additive to the oil to solve the problem ? or could it be something darker ? Here's hoping for a cheap fix . [-o<

If you want to wreck the gearbox very quickly stick to clutchless gear changes. I just use Castrol MTX 75w140 . And adjust the clutch like mentioned in the manual and no problems at all.

There are a few recent threads discussing this . Do not use clutchless changes but preloading the gear shift is OK when the clutch lever is pulled in about half way.

A semi synthetic/full synthetic gear oil also helps. No clutch adjustment available on my 2002 version- fully hydraulic.
