Whatever you end up buying make certain the antifreeze has been changed in the radiators. A major oversight by many here.
Try not to get in too much of a hurry (I know it's difficult when you've got the BMW fever). Good luck!
btw--bought mine sight unseen as well. December of '07. Had just totaled my '03. Saw pics here on this board. Bought it from a gal in Minnesota and had it shipped here. Best deal I ever had.

Re: looking by buy 2003 R1150R
well I already got one...Im going to buy one from a friend of mine....its a 2004 with 11,300 miles...and I know that he takes care of his stuff so i know that it is very well taken care off....he added the same graphics that the Rockster has, with makes it look pretty nice..and it has a custom sea (from what I've hear, the original seat is pretty uncomfortable)....it also has an Autocomm system integrated into the bike already, which ran him an extra $600....the only thing Im going to do is buy a new battery (and battery tender).......I getting it for $6,000....I got a loan from $4,500 and he is going to let me give him the rest as I can; which is great for where Im at right now...gives me an opportunity to take care of my priorities, and be able to get this great bike at the same time....
I'll post some pics as soon as I bring it home,....great motorcycle, great shape....the R1150R make all other bikes look like crap...haha

You did good. On the battery.......the generally accepted preferred battery is the Odyssey PC680.

Re: looking by buy 2003 R1150R
the color of the bike is Red, but I has some Grey graphics on it ( just like the Rockster), and it also has a custom grey seat....I won't get it till tuesday, so I'll post some pictures then...
well i was just told by a professional motorcycle driver, who's been driving for about 35 years, who race's in professional speed tracks, that with a battery tender I can get a batter from walmart and it will last me 5 yrs.....as long as its the right size, there should be no problem with them at all....this is a good tip that will save me money in the long run....thats why I got the battery tender.....the generally accepted preferred battery is the Odyssey PC680.

Re: looking by buy 2003 R1150R
not saying that is bad advice, but in the years I've followed this board I do not recall anyone ever buying their battery from Walmart. Maybe we've all missed a buying opportunity, but you can be our guinea pig.
As I said I did get my tender from wally world years ago and it continues to perfome just fine.
Def want to see pictures esp of the graphics.

congrats on the purchase. sounds like a great outcome.

At least it's not a 1200 - then he'd have to factor-in changing over to fresh Canbus fluid; an often overlooked task IMHOtowerworker wrote:Whatever you end up buying make certain the antifreeze has been changed in the radiators. A major oversight by many here..

BEEEEUUUTIFUL! The seat is really nice.....
OJ........everybody's pal!!
Re: looking by buy 2003 R1150R
If you haven't bought a battery already, you really need to think about the Odyssey PC680. Yes you can find cheaper batteries, but you are getting cheaper batteries. Of course you'll be the one walking when the cheaper battery fails a long way from home. Just my opinion.

yes it is. If I didn't already have a two piece Sargent [comfortable], but plain black...I would consider something like that!
