Yeah I know beat to death topic. But, this really is a quick question. can't find EXPROF's email or I'd just ask Mike.
I am leaving for Alaska from San Diego on June 1, 2013. I have been using the XL Cal Sci at about 24" with the Don C block and that has been great for a couple of years. Has a couple of cracks that don't affect anything and have been there for over a year.
Had forgotten a 24" Parabellum that I had used and rejected BEFORE I installed the DON C BLOCK; it's the same height and pretty much straight up and down width, no indents or NACA ducts like the Cal Sci. Real barn door but protection is what I'm after. The Parabellum with the Don C feels about the same as the Cal Sci and I may just go with it. Don C probalby even makes the factory touring windshield work.
Question: The new CEE BAILEY ---with or without Don C....is it any good vs the Cal Sci?

Also, If I went with Cee Bailey; how would it work with the Don C block? I do not want to uninstall the block.
Cee Bailey is in the LA area and I could just grab one on my way up north. Just looked at their web site. I remember from
a year ago that they really tried to figure out the R12 and spent a lot of time on the project. Question is did they get anywhere?
I could also pick up a new Cal Sci on my way through Sacramento.

Yo John, it's Mike (xprof) here from Darkest France. Yes, even here I am connected to the R1200R forum!
I helped Joe Duvall at Cee Bailey develop the new shield by letting him drive my highly modified CalSci screen, and he said that it gave him the necessary inspiration to complete the new design. I have one of those new shields and have ridden it for over a year now, so I think I am competent to compare the two, but you and I both know that height, stance and other variables make this a crapshoot. Here's my assessment:
The Cee Bailey is wider at the top, and gives you a wider sweet spot for your head and face, while the CalSci is wider down lower and protects the body a bit more. Both of my CalSci shields developed cracks around the mounting holes, while my Cee Bailey has not. From this I think the Cee Bailey would take a bigger hit by a rock or a bird (but not a moose), which might be important to you on the Alaska trip. I tried the new Cee Bailey both with and without the Don C block, and felt that with the block the shield was a bit too close and without the block it was a bit too far away and vertical, so I asked Don C to make me a 1/2 inch block, which turned out to be perfect....for me. YMMV. You might try slicing your Don C block in such a way that you could recombine the halves, if that is possible; you might go up to LA and ask Joe Duvall to help you customize the installation (he's a good guy!); and if you can wait until after 3 June you would be welcome to my 1" Don C block to fool around with.
Me, I liked my CalSci a lot after I fitted it with the 1" Don C block and the SAENG edging, and even more after I moved it up an inch or so, but I truly love my Cee Bailey with the 1/2" block and no edging.
Good luck and have a great time on the Alaska adventure. I wish I were going with you!

You have already answered your own question I think... With something as subjective as windscreens and the fact that you already have one that has been "great" for a couple years, why on earth would you make a change like that while already on the road?.... Just go ride instead of creating more stress while on your way North.
If it's not broke don't fix it right before or during a big trip would be my advice.
Or buy better waterproof riding gear instead of worrying about pope-mobile protection and ditch the rain suit.
No screen will stop you from being wet or cold if/when your $150 two piece rain suit leaks...
You screen will look like this in Alaska too:
