2010 R12, looking for tail bag
I just replaced an '04 R1150R with a '10 R1200R. I loved the 1150, best bike ever. My experience so far is that the 1200 is even better. One thing I haven't been able to find: for the 1150 I had a soft tail bag with a hard base that clicked onto the top of the luggage rack and shared a key with the ignition and side cases. Anybody seen something similar for a 2010 1200? All I have been able to find is soft bags with straps, or hard cases. I liked the click-on/click-off because I'd rather ride without luggage unless I need it, and that small bag was good for errands. Thanks!

Do you have the OEM luggage grid? I just bought the Softbag 2, very happy with it - but you need the grid.
Re: 2010 R12, looking for tail bag
In my quest for a quieter ride, I have experimented with removing my tank bag and have found it appears to cut down on turbulence and noise. I too am interested in tail bags as I think the OEM tank bag is so large as to be causing a bit of turbulence and buffeting on my helmet. Ready to try a tail bag.Walnuts wrote:I just replaced an '04 R1150R with a '10 R1200R. I loved the 1150, best bike ever. My experience so far is that the 1200 is even better. I have a Kreiga US-20 that has worked out OK for me.

Thanks all for responses. Hatepylons: I like the Softbag 2, and I have the OEM luggage grid. How does the Softbag 2 attach?

I'll grab some images of the front straps later tonight. The underside of the bag has a nice profile and pre-molded shape that helps keep the shape as well as centering the bag on the rack. There's a tough fabric lip that goes on the underside of the OEM grid to keep the bag from coming forward. Rock solid at 85(ish). I'm very impressed with its construction and inner lining as well.Walnuts wrote:Thanks all for responses. Hatepylons: I like the Softbag 2, and I have the OEM luggage grid. My financee has had the SoftBag1 on her K1300S for the past 20K mi, she's been quite happy with it.

+1 for the soft bag 2. Well made, fits and functions well. Plenty of straps to hold it securely at 100+mph.

I have the soft bag from a couple years ago. The exterior material is different from the current model, but otherwise I believe it's the same. Great bag, keeps stuff dry. When traveling, I keep all my clothing in it, plus room for some extra stuff. I highly recommend this bag.

Two main differences in comparing the fiancee's and mine:Bob Ain't Stoppin' wrote:I have the soft bag from a couple years ago. PIc for your evaluation:
1) Exterior is much stiffer - the Softbag2 is really a "fairly rigid softbag".
2) The Softbag2 is vertically expandable - not exponential, but enough.
Being at work on a slow work day makes me really tempted to grab some images now for you. Unfortunately my bike is parked right outside the company President's window........

Wow, thanks for all the help and photos. Now if I can just get plates on the bike and get it on the road before the weather turns!
Thanks again, all.
