Relays are fairly simple, so robust, just don't stick it somewhere it'll get too hot.

I pulled power from a fused 10 ga wire that I added, coming off the battery to a relay. The relay signal wire comes from the light switch. I tucked the relay under the insturment panel ( Rockster). I also made a terminal strip for ground that is under the dash. The ground wire for this goes to the battery.
