Panniers / saddlebags

Post by ron prior »

For the 1150R ...anyone know of any aftermarket "top loading" type that are made for the Roadster ? I seem to remember some that were actually made for "GS's" that were adaptable ?

Just would like to have a bit more cap, and not in luv with the x-wide touring lids. ....And must admit never really a fan of side-loaders either......although I have owned several over the years.

I adapted a set of SW-Motech racks that were originally purchased for an R1100GS to fit my 2004 R1150R. Had to fabricate one bracket (rear cross-over bracket), and am using Trax bags (aluminum "adventure" style). Also had to buy a SW-Motech rear rack made for the R1150R as the stock BMW topcase rack cannot be used with the Motech pannier racks. My bags are top-loading, side bags are 48L each, the topcase is 42L.

I had a Givi knockoff fitted for years and got tired of the look so just replaced it with a Pelican case. Sleeker but not as much height or volume.

Givi might have racks for the R1150R; I'm not sure. You might check Twisted Throttle to see what they have.
