Eliminating the "beak"

How about the paint Job, what did you do about that?

The fender is a new one from wunderlich, i ordered it from bmw of santa cruz it's about $200 U.S. I had it painted at a local automotive shop that works mostly on imports, they got the paint code off of my bike and matched it for the fender, the paint ran me another $200 but they also did some prep work and a little body filler to clean up the fiberglass.

I agree, it looks great, much better than the stock beak. I thought it was supposed to come primed and ready for paint, especially at $200.00 Why was filler work necessary? Does it bold right on and come with the necessary hardware or just use the stock parts?

Tino, thanks i like it and thanks for finding that original pic. But... IMHO, i think the stock beak is going to look better with that classic "old school" screen you have, because the back of the beak is squared off and visually blends in with your screen. The Wunderlich fender also has a matching screen that i think looks very good together....again, just my opinion.

Silverrr, it does come gel coated(fiberglass primer) but fiberglass is very porous especially the edges, a touch of filler is needed or else it sucks the paint in and you end up with little pin holes. As for installation it's very easy, it comes with a new upper bracket and a few bolts.

There is no doubt that i could have had it painted cheaper somewhere else but this shop has done work for me before and it's top notch, like i said they mostly work on imports, heck they even have an IRL car sitting in their lobby!

Meh. While underseat exhaust is better than the up-swept that is on the bike, I'd say the iideal would be a cat/muffler combo that fit in the space that the cat does now. I'll probably just pull the muffler off when the bike goes out of warranty, and live with the extra noise.

Personally I think the R1200RS fender looks pretty good on the RR. And yes, it's a direct bolt-on.

When i show people what BMW has to offer, every single person that i have shown the roadster to has said,"Yeah they are good lookin bikes, but that front fender has GOT to go. What the hell was BMW thinkin??"

I am going to have to agree with that one,it looks goofy as hell. I dont think it balances the aesthetics or anything at all...if that were the case, every other bike on the planet would look ugly and "unbalanced" from having forks. I think the telelever compliments the look of the front plenty.
