Missing topic re. Dallara - a well liked member
I just tried to post a note on the topic regarding Dallara, a very civil thread, was just going to say I agreed with Deano, & in the time it took me to post the thread was gone. Not sure where, but Dallara, hope you hang around & post, I learn alot from you.

The complete posting is in "Off Topics" anyone who wants to continue the thread is welcome and encouraged to do so.
If Dallara wishes to this is the place to continue and finish his story - I know many are interested - just go to "Off Topics" and you will find the thread.

I'm sure this will get moved, too. I just posted a reply to Riceburner regarding not enjoying the site so much anymore and guess what...it's gone. Not even in Off-Topic. Nice...well, see ya' later. Dean, I'll be over on AdvRider gloating about my ST. One of these days I'll see you on the road. I'll be the one going too fast on my red ST. Oh, wait, that would be you.
Anyway...bye everyone. It's been real. Whatever you ride...have fun ridin' it...and above all, BE SAFE!

As Whaycoc says, the thread has been moved to "Off Topic". More worrying is that "Riceburners" thread regarding leaving The Board because of the way Dallara was being treated has been deleted all together [unless it's been hidden under snother heading]
I must be stupid [or naive] but I didn't realise there was a "Site Owner" with the power to delete threads. I have no idea where I thought the money came from to run the site but it never entered my head there was "Big Brother" out there. Scary

Has anyone else noticed...
Has anyone else noticed that Bones' post asking the moderators for some direction and clarification on policies disappeared, too?

this is quickly sprialing down into what may very well cause many members to leave.
i think it's silly and quite childish. we've always been respectful of Doug's wishes, so why is it now, all of a sudden, we have such a big problem.
For those who are leaving the site so quickly, I question your committment to our group. For the uninitiated, many of us have been here for 2-3 years or more, and the friendships we've established will prove stronger than some censorship issues.
What the crux of the issue is not what IS being said, but rather, what is NOT being said. Clarification is needed on part of the admins/owner, and quite frankly, we deserve it.
So let's hear it...that way we can all hug and make up and get back to posting.

Thread...
The thread is here:

(If you ever need to find a post by a specific member, go to the memberlist button up top... You can sort by member name to make it easier to find the member you're looking for... )
Can we please drop all this drama? Why is it so difficult to post a non 1150r related topic in the "Off topic" section? It's not rocket science...

Yeah. That's the one where I posted "My take..." on the situation.
Poof!
Dean: If I remember right, you were unusually eloquent and that was what moved me to chime in. (With less eloquence, perhaps, but with no less passion.) Hope it's not gone forever.

Several of us asked several times in several places to hear from the Mods.
I think we have.
That sucking sound is "unpleasant/uncomfortable" threads being ripped from the board.
Similar to the other sucking sound of members in good standing leaving the board.

Hey now. what's going on? It must be the bad weather closing in, pissing everyone off. Look, i'm still relatively new to the site, and new to riding in general. I think the site has been a great learning resource and a great 'community'. I'd hate to see anyone leave over postings....seems absurd "after all we've been thru"
Let's all take a deep breath--enjoy the upcoming holidays and figure out a way to get out in the winter for a ride......

This community is my sanctuary when I need a break from reality. It's beauty lies in the diversity of the personalities who participate and the diversity of topics that find their way into its many threads. I would hope that anything that diminishes either the diversity of the personalities or the content would be a catastrophic last resort.
Seems to me that all that is required is timely communication. If a moderator feels compelled to take action, then they owe it to the board - and to Doug - to post an explanation for their action. I think a major part of the concern here is the seemingly arbitrary nature in which changes have been made to posts without a clear understanding of the rationale behind the action taken.
Communicate people! Both ways!

question post
I asked a simple question that was in no way offensive, even by the most puritan standards. My thread was deleted. Immediately.
I, too, would be very bothered by feeling of need to leave the board, as I have enjoyed (tremendously) the interaction over the past few years. I joined before I purchased my 1150R, became a lifetime member, have never posted a single picture or posted anything offensive (except a strong opinion about which type of helmet is most protective).
I make a simple inquiry regarding some guidlines and clarification about some things and my post is deleted by a moderator very, very quickly.
I can accept a LOT of things regarding rules and guidelines. But out and out censorship exercised unilaterally over a simple question is not tolerable, mainly because it then undermines my confidence that what gets posted in the future is complete and unedited.
I am guessing this post will get deleted quickly, too.
If so, then I guess I will say goodbye. Will have to consider joining the ADV rider forum or something (even though I don't ride on trails with my BMW). At least I will keep the friends made on the board and can stay in touch with them directly.
What a shame. All because of the behavior of a moderator.
